Moving him up one step at a time. He could make a good big league mngr if he can learn to control his temper.

The meatball in me wants to see him take over for Lou in 2011.

I don't think he's ready. I'd like to see Brenly take over first, with Sandberg as a bench coach for few seasons.

+1 pending on how he handles himself in Iowa this year.

If the Cubs get off to another slow start,I see Brenly taking over in 2010. They will see how he does before bringing up Ryno.

Good for Ryno!

I would like to see Brenly be the next manager and then perhaps after that it would be Rynos time.

I was hoping they would bring Sandberg up as a bench coach or 3rd base coach.

Ideally, the Cubs would let Sandburg become a coach on the major league team, but I wonder, if they do consider him the next manager, if they want him in the clubhouse because of all the speculation that would come up if they get off to a bad start, especially with Lou in his final season.

I remember when Jim Essian was waiting in the wings as the Cubs up & coming manager. What a disaster he was. I don't think it is a good thing to have your "manager in waiting" in your system. If the Cubs get off to a bad start next season, or even if they go into a slump during the season....all we will hear is Sandburg, Sandburg, Sandburg. That can't be good for the team or Lou.

Naturally, this won't become a distraction by midseason when the Cubs at 40-41. I bet no one is screaming to remove one of the best managers the Cubs have EVER had for this bald bozo. Sure, Ryno was a fan fave. I like the guy. But he's never been to a WS (Lou has) he's not ready to coach (but he sure thinks he is, love the unfounded confidence).
This has disaster written all over it.
But shit yeah let's be happy for Ryno. I'm always glad to see that the FANS get their guy, cause you know, the meat ball fans know best!

You're like a window licking version of Bernsie.

You're right. All the Cubs need to win a world series is one outfielder, a starter and Ryne Sandberg! They're almost there!
Is that all the need? Maybe a dome?

Troowidowmaker,
What percentage of fans are meatballs in your opinion?

THANK YOU! That was driving me fucking nuts.

I was hoping that Sandberg would have been named the bench coach this season, to give him a little work at the major league level before he ever manages a game there. At least he has gone through every level of the organization, and should know their prospects when he eventually gets the job. By that time, I expect a feww will have already been called up, and he will have a say on the ones who haven't yet.
