This should put him near the top of the preseason Cy Young hopefuls
now that he has left the Cubs. He probably won't even get injured
or skip starts this season.

OH NO! Rich Harden is leaving! How could the Cubs let this perennial 9-10 win pitcher just walk away! He is a dominant pitcher who is just waiting to blossom into greatness! He has been everything the Cubs dreamed he would be when they stole him from the A's! This team can't survive without his 140 IP each year! This is a bad move! VERY bad! He has a huge upside! How will the rotation account for his 1 start every 10 days?

Now this is a mult I can get behind. Maybe he'll be healthy this year, maybe the ligaments in his elbow and shoulder will fall clean off. With how strapped with cash the team is, I completely understand why they did not offer him arb. Wish Rich nothing but the best

Rich Harden will receive $6.5 million in 2010 with an $11 million mutual option for 2011 with a $1M buyout.

Harden is actually making $500,000 LESS than he made last year.

i had high hopes for harden when he was acquired, and again last year. his inability to get through 5-6 innings each start was frustrating. particularly the season he was acquired. he would pitch 1-hit shutout ball with 10 K's through 5, and have to be pulled. the guy only averaged less than 6 innings a start last year. enjoy your stay in texas.

Yeah but he either gets bought out, which makes it a 7.5 one year deal or picked up which averages out to 8.75 per year

I think Harden will always be looking to be on a multi year deal so that he can continue to coast.

Yeah I thought the Grabow move was a decent one and I have to be honest but I am perfectly fine with them letting Harden walk because of what has already been discussed in this thread with his penchant for nibbling around the strike zone and throwing 90 pitches through 5 innings. Do I think Hendry is doing a good job....No I do not. But it just seemed to me that your reactions so far on this board have been overwhelmingly negative to anything the Cubs attempt. Maybe its a coincidence that you just happened to disagree with everything that has come up since you have been here but instead you are just coming across as a red ass.
