Now that Mike Cameron has signed with Boston just wondering what plan B is in CF....I have heard Marlon Byrd and Podsednik's names tossed around. Has anybody heard anything different? Maybe they are just planning to let Milton patrol CF.

Cameron has tentatively agreed to a two-year contract with Boston worth $7 million to $8 million per season, ESPNBoston.com reports. The deal is pending a physical.

I'm holding out hope for Kelly Johnson.

That would require foresight and intelligence on Jim Hendry's part. Not exactly his strong suit.

or, at the very least, for him to be awake.

Yes, if he had these things, he would have traded for Pierre.

At this point I don't even care if they bring milton back. This team is probably not going to be good anyways. They apparently aren't going to commit any money to making the team better and they seem to have little talent ready at the minor league level so why the hell not. Either he mans up and surprises us all or we at least get to watch the side show of the fans in the bleachers riding his ass until he breaks.

fukudome in center, bradley in right, soriano in left. it isnt that complicated really. 3 bad contracts. they arent signing anyone to replace those 3 guys unless they find a taker on one that doesnt involve the cubs eating the entire contract or getting an equally shitty contract in return.

they are here and here to stay, your starting outfield.

Latest word this morning was that the Bradley/Burrell deal would be finalized sometime this week. While I am glad to get rid of Bradley and think that at the very least Burrell is a decent upgrade offensively, I am not sure how well an OF of Fuk, SorryIcan'thitnow and Burrell sounds.

I would agree except for the caveat that Bradley is just going to be a pain in the ass. Burrell while he sucks is at least not as much of a distraction. But yeah the Cubs will have a bad outfield for a better part of the 10's

Burrell can't play right... he's basically a DH type at this point.

Soriano can't play left (or any position, really) and Bradley was bad in RF last season, I doubt it would be a very noticable difference.

as bad as this outfield is, id like to notice a positive difference if i make a trade, not trade for another old overpaid guy who cant play. make moves with a plan, like getting rid of good players with some value who are now moving past peak for young players with some talent and upside, not swapping your old used up shit for someone elses old used up shit. the time is now - dont hold on to guys like lee and ramirez and zambrano and dempster until they have no value.

purge while you can! abandon ship!

If Vitters was thought to be ready to make the jump, it would make sense to move him. Derek Lee can be moved, as they have Hoffpauir to step in-even if he would not get the numbers Lee did in 2009. The point is, he's entering the final year of his deal (14 million) and is coming off a very good season. That MIGHT make him someone that could be moved for a good young player or two. If they do not intend to sign him to an extension, it would be the prudent thing to do. Zambrano makes a LOT, but just might be possible to move and given the production/salary ratio, would be a guy to test the waters with. Dempster makes too much and has too many years on his contract, to move. I doubt there would be any takers.

oh, there would be takers if he gets off to a good start. regardless, say you CANT move these guys, if im ricketts im not signing ANYONE else for substantial contracts until this current group is history. i think they are being very wise standing pat this off-season.
