Mr. B has left for SanDiego, so this is the last report:

Overall, Mr. B thought pitching looked surprisingly good.

Mr. B's observations from watching the pitchers throw live BP:

-Samardjia throwing well…really popping the ball hard. But we knew that, still need pitch #2.
-Caridad looks good and throwing well too. Throws very hard. Harder than Samardjza
-Marmol looked like he was in mid-season form (mid-season 2008, not 2009), No one could hit him. Only hit was when he hit Starlon Castro in the backside with a pitch.
-Even Silva looked good. His sinker was working well…really dropping. Hitters were hitting lots of ground balls off him.
-Maddux and Pinella were watching the pitchers throw BP at that field, and Maddux never took his eyes off the pitcher when he was throwing. Seeing some tweaking with Marmol.
Mr. B still likes Nady's swing…"it's very accomplished". He said Nady's got the same lean build as Soriano, but a much better contact hitter.

Side notes:

When switching fields, Maddux was walking with Hendry, and Mr. B asked Hendry why Maddux wasn't working with the pitchers…Hendy said "Because he's MY assistant."

Over the weekend Maddux did pitch a little BP

Is there a guy, other than Gary Bettman, who is more unjustifiably smug than Jim Hendry? What a thin-skinned prick this guy is. It will be a joyous day when this dickhead is sent packing.

Come on Frank! If he pitched for Guru Coop, Hawk would have made Maddux out to be the greatest pitcher of all time. And yes, I mean of "ALL TIME"
