While I was OK with a video board, something to ad to the game, but I am against the proposed Toyota sign for a few reasons.

-It does look out of place.
-I don't trust the brakes!
-Most of all I would like to put a little check on the Ricketts Regime!
-Would like to see someting that enchances the game, not just a flying logo that "the ball can go through the O"

Wasn't there just yet another (of the millions of) threads about "desecrating" the Shrine????

I actually agree the the yell-y Bob for the most part. I just care about the games and the results. Everything else is pretty oblivious to me

I agree, but that comment made me laugh out loud. Definitely wins the Line Of The Day Award. It's a great visual.

Only caring about the results of Cubs games makes Cubs fandom the most miserable voluntary pursuit in the world. There's gotta be more to it than that.

At a Cubs Convention in the early 90's, I bought Ronnie Woo Woo a beer and then couldn't get rid of him for two hours. A little of Ronnie goes a long way.

It's embarrassing as a Cubs fan that there's so much attention paid to any fucking thing that happens to Wrigley or in a one block radius of it.

In fairness, every time something like that does happen is all over the news, sports sections of the newspaper, and AM670 & 1000

I liked it better before 2005 when the White Sox were all of the Cubs' futility with none of the pretty.

Toyota sign? Might as well put up a WALMART sign next to it. In the most American ballpark,
an American Shrine is spat upon by the John M. Smithe brothers or whomever these new group of clowns are. I agree with BigFan. If there must be a sign,a retro beer sign would be ok.

That is the point...and this place has been a graveyard for the damned Cubs.....this dump has been undergoing change from the day it was built....the vines came with Veeck..the scoreboard came with Veeck....the dumb basket around the bleachers Mike Murphy takes credit for......the constant expansion of the bleachers over the years..the damned lights...the suites that destroyed the view of the scoreboard from a lot of the terrace...they took out FUCKING SMOKIE LINKS..THEY TOOK OUT FROSTY MALTS...What happened to Schlitz and Hamm's????? Jack Brickhouse's broadcast booth and the old pressbox are long gone...
Mike North is not a vendor there anymore...Irving the vendor with one brown tooth is long dead....there is an adverising sign behind home plate that desecrated the bricks...the outfield doors are advertisements....

Seems like this Castro kid at shortstop looks and sounds like a real PLAYER....Maybe he will become a spokesman for Toyota some day?

SOMEHOW A TOYOTA SIGN IS ENOUGH TO SEND SOME FOLKS TO A THERAPIST

Sox Fan Bob: Do you elect to play a rambling schizophrene on the Internet or are you playing it straight? It almost seems like more work to do it your way.

Bob, I am for the Video Board, which they will make much more money on and I dont care what it does to the aura/area/etc. The TOYOTA ad looks bad! I am not talking about how it fits etc, It just looks bad.

I do have some concerns about the Ricketts ruling class doing whatever they want, when they want. Concerts, Games, Football bring it on, but I think they need to do much more in terms of security/garbage, etc. in the area. Same with the Bars. Not saying to limit them, but got to do more than having 2 homeless guys with a broom the next morning.

You would think given all the P.R. problems TOYOTA has had to deal with since the controversy over the recalls, the automaker would steer clear of slapping their logo above the left field bleachers at Wrigley.

BF.....the whole deal to get used to is the Ricketts ruling class will do whatever they want.

Holy Christ....just look no further than Reinsdorf....meddling..interfering in the Bulls and Sox Coaching and managerial decisions...all of his creepy machinations...

This Ricketts bunch at least makes an effort to be fan friendly...meeting and talking with people goes a long way towards people feeling a part of the entire enterprise, even though the fans have no damned say in anything...

Our Prick out south sits in his fucking suite and leaves the damned ballpark with a guard....He worries about the media and what is said and written....makes an ass of himself every so often during an interview because he is such a wormy control freak, buys off mental midgets like Mike North with a Scotch and a cigar and a smile and now is worried about the STATE OF ARIZONA tax to build the Cubs a Spring Training Stadium.

I dont think The Rickeys will ever get as bad as Reinsdorf as they didn't make their money lining the pockets of politicians and I am all for most of their improvements, but they need something and no reason the neighborhood shouldnt get something they need out of it.

Plus, part of this is not about just getting advertising revenue, it's about making sure one guy doesn't make money with the Horseshoe sign.
