5/4:
Dempster(2-1 2.78) v. Maholm (1-2, 4.83)
5/5
Lilly(1-1 4.91) v. Morton (0-5 12.57)
5/6
Wells (3-0 3.45) v. TBD

No excuses not to win at least 2, should be a sweep.

I don't know about a sweep. That TBD guy always seems to jump up and bite the Cubs.

They NEED a sweep in this series. The schedule to this point has been "soft." That is being nice. Time to step on the throat of one of these garbage teams.

Wow, 0-5 already. Morton is in for a long year.

The Cub need to sweep, 2 of 3 is acceptable, I guess. Like Mr. Drop Out said, they need to take advantage of the soft schedule.
When Soriano is on one of these streaks, he absolutely kills bad pitching and the Pirate pitch bad.

Hopefully Ohlendorf is still out and doesn't become the tbd guy. Everytime I have seen him pitch he has been lights out, and he hit a grand slam in the AA game I saw him pitch.

He had some great games no doubt, but he was all or nothing. Either struck out the side or gave up a bunch of runs.

Soriano dropped the last out against the Pirates a while ago and turned a W into a L, hope that doesn't happen again.

The Brewers beat the Pirates something like 45-4 in the series they swept the Bucs recently and then the Cubs killed the Brewers...so naturally you might think the Cubs should wipe the floor with the Pirates. However, all too often things don't go that way. I do expect 2 of 3 at least though and the Cub hitters should fatten up in this series. Maybe being in Pittsburg will get Aramis Ramirez going finally. He has hit his former team very well, since joining the Cubs.

Dempster and Wells have been very good this season so far and pitch the 1st and 3rd games and should give the team a reasonably good chance to win. Lilly has the middle game and with his opponant sporting an ERA over 10, should have a good chance to get back on track. This stretch (Pittsburg and Cincy) coming up, gives the Cubs the chance to gain some momentum and confidence. I would really like to see this streak keep rolling on for a while and see if they can't get Zambrano in back to back games soon too. If he's pitching out of the bullpen, lets use him that way and get value of some sort from him.

When he played for us, all the announcers, Ranger, Ozzie, Williams, all talked about how great this guy was. Now he is gone and he was a bum?

If he's your 4th-5th best reliever he's pretty good. A little gopher-ball-y but will whiff a few guys. Unfortunately for the Buccos he is their closer.

I should think that the Cubs have a better than average shot at winning this game.
6-1

I just read Nady is starting. I forgot the Cubs are paying him 3.3 million. He might come in useful soon. The guy can hit.

Bob just touched on it but goddamn, it's 25 games into the season, and the Pirates are -89 in run differential.
Next worst is Houston.. -52
Baltimore -42

Cubs +12
Sox -23

Couldn't have said it better myself, Zack. And I'm a boob man of both varieties, a lover of one and a pointer outer of the other.
