June 2010 is the month the Chicago Cubs officially started slipping into oblivion in Chicago.
Book it - there's a paradigm shift going on.
The Hawks won the Stanley Cup - and are poised for at least a half decade of dominance.
The Bulls freed up enough cap space to sign two studs, and also have a half decade to decade of dominance.
The White Sox were hit with the N.L. Defibrillator - and they will NOT blow things up, they will remain competitive.
The Cubs? They have a Toyota sign, a Noodle, and owner with buyers remorse, a manager in waiting that has the charisma of a block of tofu, and the highest salary in the National League, third highest in the majors.
Sure, the tourists and lemmings will continue to go to the emerald walled wreck at Clark and Addison - but the smart Chicago sports fans, will re-allocate their money to see more Bulls and Hawks games - and enjoy the fine weather of Chicago.
Call me a meatball if you'd like, but remember this: June 2010.
RIP Cubs.
Year One. More like Year Done. ...and Team Done.
