Friday: 1:20 p.m., WGN-Ch. 9; RH Jeff Suppan (0-5, 6.05) vs. RH Randy Wells (4-7, 4.33).

Saturday: 12:05 p.m., CSN; RH Blake Hawksworth (4-5, 4.85) vs. LH Tom Gorzelanny (5-5, 3.12).

Sunday: 7:05 p.m., ESPN; RH Chris Carpenter (11-3, 3.05) vs. RH Ryan Dempster (8-7, 3.70).

Sunday's game might be fun, but these matchups... How the hell is Suppan that fuckin bad?
I'm wagering that the Cards take at least 2 of these, probably Sat, Sun, but they have a better than average chance at hitting the shit out of Wells, who as we know likes to pitch with a massive hangover in day games.

he started the year with Milwaukee

Cubs will take 2 of 3...time for the Cards to cool off and the Cubs hitting is improving

I'll believe that the Cubs will take 2 of 3 when I see it. I predict Cards take 2 of 3 and Cubs end the year 20+ games out.

Cub get semi lucky to miss Wainwright and Garcia.

Suppan is downright combustible, but almost resembles a Major League pitcher under Duncan's tutelage... You know if you're a pitcher, and Milwaukee can't even use you, you are huge pile of suck.

Card also missing Ludwick, Penny, and Freese.

I really wish the Cubs would stop playing with me.

Absofuckinglutely right, Soriano should have easily been on second.

Bryd's ab in the 10th was one of the worst of the season. Swings at 2 breaking balls in the dirt, then takes a fastball down the middle for strike 3.

Another horrible ab by Fukudome to end the game. Anytime they want to trade him and Theriot would be great. Theriot was horrible at the plate, and was horrible in the field yesterday.

Ryan was 2-5 with an RBI and a run.

another game where the Cubs lost yet looked like the better team/tougher out

amazing...i came away thinking how the hell the opposition put them away...same with the Houston game on Wed.

the difference really was the Cubs weak and young bullpen after Marmol and Marshall

the Cubs were the better team thru 10, the Cards just somehow persevered and outlasted them

huge win for the Cards, as they can effectively concentrate on Cincy now...they know that the Cubs, if they were to win tonight would become a serious threat in the division and absolutely refused to lose tonight

it was such a tense game that Larussa didnt even congratulate Lopez on his homerun when he came back to the dugout...because Tony's wheels were turning and worried about the bottom of the 11th...

Ryan was 2-5 with an RBI and a run.

He also messed up two plays in the field that Castro would have had.

He's slow, cant throw, cant field and cant hit anything but singles.

That triple last night should have been a single. Jay misplayed it.

Fixed! The announcers commented that Jay was playing too shallow. Then again, withTheriot up, he should play shallow

Who in the hell is schlitter and when did he come up. I see he is from oak park though. While scanning through the minor league stats it appears as if everyones favorite shark has figured something out down there, but he is starting again. I have a feeling we will be seeing him again once teddy is gone.

Uh-oh. One more call up and inevitable demotion (because that's what Hendry does) will probably put Samardjiza out of reach in my number of times Samardjiza is sent down vs Pauly's triples + stolen bases bet. Samardjiza already leads 1-0.

Hendry's bullpen has been a freakin yo-yo this year. It's too bad triple A is only in Des Moines because the organization would be racking up some serious frequent flier miles if it were located in Alabama, South Carolina or Vegas.

The club has too much money invested in him at this point. He's going to get multiple more chances I'd imagine.

He is 7-1 in Iowa with an era somewhere around 2.25. When he first got there he was bad if I remember correctly, but he seems to have figured something out.

Definitely not inconceivable to have a rotation next year that looks like:

Dempster
Wells
Cashner
Shark
Gorzelanny

in some order

No. I'm willing to bet though that they'd stick him as a long relief/6th starter type role to give Cashner/Shark plenty of chances to start. And Gorz over Silva since he's lefty and I think projects better than Silva over 30 starts
