I don't know anything about what Happ has done this year but didn't he win like 10 games for the Phils last year?

He was either hurt or in the minors for a few months. He was supposed to be a promising prospect for them. I did not know he is a native of Stillman Valley and Northwestern.

I just looked I guess he is already 28 and injury prone so he will fit right in with this team

He's from Spring Valley, actually. Getting him that much closer to Rip's Chicken should improve his health immediately.

I like this. I hope it happens.

You are indeed correct. I was thinking one thing and writing another. I watched a high school football playoff game at Spring Valley Hall (I think that is what it was called?) He would have been a junior that year I believe. I wonder if he was on the team.

He went to St. Bede Academy, not Spring Valley Hall.

This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I'd personally like to stockpile some positional prospects with a slightly higher ceiling if at all possible. Unless they are already thinking stocking up some arms for winter meetings?

I thought Happ was one of those spectuacular, untouchable prospects for the Phillies just a couple of years ago.

I think the Cubs will like this deal. At the same time, it certainly signals the price of trading really isn't that high, especially with the returns for Lee and Harden. Maybe the Nationals GM is going to have to rethink his positiion.

I don't like the deal, just because I hate to aquire a player with injury problems and he has had way too many already. Yes, he's talented, but so were Prior, Wood, etc... I would prefer a solid prospect that is 19-22 years old.

All irrelevant since Happ is going to Houston as part of the Oswalt deal

Glad to hear it! PROSPECTS-thats what the Cubs need. Guys who will be around for a long time to help Castro, Colvin and Soto build this team into a contender again in a couple years.

Cubs told the Mets that they wouldn't trade them Gorz. If this is true, Hendry should be fired just for that.

Well if no deals are made and Hendry is shitcanned, I'm more than happy. This is on him. Much like Jerry Angelo, Hendry will never again sniff a big league G.M, job after he's fired.

Doesn't it depend on what the Mets were offering (assuming this happened)?

I doubt the Mets were offering much of anything. I am just super excited that D Lee wants to come back next year. Yaaaayyyy.

Trading high salaried guys like Zambrano and Silva (neither even slightly likely) would be outstanding. If Hendry decided not to deal one of those guys, it would be stupid. Deciding not to trade a low salaried guy that is 6-5 with a 3.22 ERA...thats smart, unless they would get a prospect of real value in return.

I've had enough of Lee batting period. Let him find work elsewhere.

Hendry will give him a 2 year deal with an option for a third, but at least he won't have to give him a no-trade clause.

No, No, No, No more Lee. Absolutely under no circumstance do I ever want to see him again on this team.
