Come on Frank, a lot of people take time off from work to spend the final days with a parent. I was able to do so with my mother a few years back and I am very glad I did. There are a number of things to be critical of Lou about, but let's not criticize him for spending time with his mom.

There is nothing wrong with him going to be with his mother. He might stay a bit extra because this team is going to suck with him in the dugout or in Tampa.
