Am I the only one who thinks maybe the Cubs shouldn't be so anxious to get rid of him?

Unless we can get another team to eat a big part of the salary or get some real top notch prospect or prospects for him or both.

WHy not take a chance he can bounce back and possibly with a new manager and the psychiatric help do well again?

The idiotic idea he keeps the team from winning because he's nuts. Obviously before this year that isn't true as the Cubs won 3 divisions since he became a full time major leaguer in 2003 (a season where his contribution was undderrated) and 2 other winning seasons. Compare that with the boyfriends of the media teams in the 90s.

The day the GM does something because the fans and media want it is the day he should be fired. I always thought the GM should call all the writers into his office and ask them for advice and then do everything the opposite.

I say keep him into next season and see what happens. Again unless they get another team to eat a good portion of his salary.

IF we're going to pay him a zillion next year might as wll take a chance he'll bounce back with the Cubs. Let's face it he'll go somewhere else and win 20 games next year knowing our luck.

On a side note anyone rooting against him doing well the rest of the season are not Cub fans. Even if you are dumb enough to be all anxious to get rid of him at all costs, you should realize the better he does the better the Cubs will do in any deal.

no ur not

we absolutely should not get rid of him

we keep talking about needing starting pitching for next year, yet we wanna get rid of him....why? because Hendry is a BULLY to his own players...one wrong step and he trades them

he is such a weakling when it comes to standing up to Lou, yet a bully to his own players

whats this bullshit about wanting Z to do well this year so that his trade value goes up? that to me is the most backwards shit...why not want him to do well so that his value to the Cubs next year is higher??

if we trade Zambrano we will be in even bigger trouble next year let me tell you

Zambranos had enough chances to show what he can do and he's failed miserably. I love the guy and the way he acts but his mental issues have always overcome his physical abilities on the mound

while i would trade him if the opportunity was to arise, i dont think it is fair to say he has "failed miserably" as a cub. this year has been bad, but prior to this season he has never had a full year with the cubs where he has had an era over 4. he has had a pretty consistent career performance-wise, but there was no way he was ever going to live up to that contract.

if and when he comes back with the cubs next year, it is not far-fetched to think that he could have a decent rebound year, particularly with some new faces in the clubhouse and a new manager and outlook starting in spring training. the days of talking "breakthrough year" and possible cy young awards are almost certainly over, but he could rebound to his career norm of 14-16 wins.
