I think they are 22-11 under him going on 23 if they hold on tonight. Currently Unstoppable. What this means for next year? Probably nothing. It does help erase the memories of the Lou and Lee led shitfest from earlier this year though.

No it doesn't. This makes it worse, knowing they had a team that could compete but couldn't put it together soon enough.

You must exorcise those demons, only then can you be capable of disappointment next year.

Agreed, if Ricketts had a sack he would have fired Lou and Hendry back in June when this fuckarow was just starting to take off. Maybe they could have salvaged the season... Fuck this team.

This late season run makes it more likely Hendry sticks around. Not good obviously.

That piece of shit was staying regardless, but it does take all the fun out of them playing well for a few weeks.

I can't get excited about wins with zero pressure but I guess it's a good thing. Least they gained some respect.

From who?

Damon Berryhill and Shawn Boskie like the things that are happening here.

From who?

From the league for not going in the tank and losing 98 games. At least they aren't a laughingstock given this finish. They showed pride anyway. Will it carry through to next year? It can't hurt although it hurts the draft order.

not sure how this factors in given the circumstance. It does seem like a lot of praise is being heaped on Quade. Before this guy gets annointed....start by asking why they played under 500 at home?

He did do a MUCH better job than Pinella though....and it just goes to show Lou was doing nothing but sitting on his ass and wating for something to happen.

FWIW....Pete Vonachen, Peoria Chiefs owner and old buddy of Harry's, said that there will be no Quade next year. Girardi or Sandberg are the guys they are targeting. Also said they have been meeting with Sandberg in Phoenix already.

Comes from a source who correctly gave me the Thome to the Twins move about 2 days before it went down.

I'll check my answering machine for more scoops.

I hope your guy is right. Quade has done a fine job to end the season, but the pressure is off. No one is really paying attention anymore. I am still not sold that he needs to be the guy fulltime. But now the crappy thing is say they hire Sandberg and they get off to a slow start next year all the meatballs are going to be saying, "see we should have went with Quade."

Bob Melvin apparently had his interview yesterday for what that is worth.

Give Sandberg his shot. The man deserves the opportunity.

The guy who told me is pretty tight with Vonachen. I'm just the messenger.
