Ricketts needs to sell the team already. His press conference when he bought the team was promising, but since then, he keeps making himself look like a boob. If he wants to get any credibility back, he needs to fire Hendry. He is already getting the image of a guy just trying to get money back, and not giving a shit about winning.

I agree Hendry needs to be fired. Outside of that Ricketts has been fine. The team is spending as unsustainable levels and it makes sense he is trying to work out the business aspects especially with the triangle building.

What is killing me today is that the Trib during their last few years of ownership TRIED to buy a championship. It obviously didn't work. Obviously Ricketts doesn't have the cash flow to make that happen. For better or worse this is how things are going to be around here now but people are stomping their feet and acting all upset about it. Yeah I would be happy if they fired Hendry but they aren't going to eat the money on his contract like Hendry going back for seconds at a buffett. Hopefully this team can develop some young talent and get out from under these bad Tribune contracts the next few years under Quade.

They won't develop shit, since Hendry is the one drafting. He is still the guy who gave Shark 10 million. Yet another reason to be fired.

Was it Hendry that was having Colvin ride the pine earlier this year when he was clearly one of their best hitters?

I'm a huge Castro fan, but one good player in several years is brutal. That whole bullpen of rookies this year sucked, besides Cashner, who was suspect after his first few innings.

sounds like u havent been paying attention...to me or to the Cubs season

Colvin played everyday under Lou...Hendry didnt dare tell Lou what to do

Quade is the one that sat Colvin LATE in the year...why? because Hendry BULLIed him to do so...so yes, it was Hendry

Tyler Colvin had 63 AB's in 23 games after Quade took over. (2.74 AB's per game)

During Piniella's time, he had 295 AB's in 128 games. (2.30 AB's per game)

You're wrong.

Lou never arranged to have Colvin get impailed by a bat, unlike Quade.

After the first press conference I called him Tom O'Bama. He has done nothing (literally) to change my opinion.

Colvin didnt start the season as a starter...Lou put him in in May...now, do the numbers AFTER Colvin was established as the starter

No selling needed but Hendry needs to go but seeing how he hired Quade I doubt he's going anywhere now. If Jim was gonna be fired it would have been right after the season was over and not let him choose the new manager

I don't need them to sell, just fund your own mistakes! I agree with the plan they have had in the most part.

I don't like the "We will just sit back all year because we said we would" approach when they needed to do something.

They are rookie owners and maybe this year, they don't need to plan a 3 week family get away during the season?

Oh, and why is Crane Kenny still employed?????

I'm pretty sure they are funding their mistakes:

Alfonso Soriano
8 years/$136M (2007-14)

Carlos Zambrano
5 years/$91.5M (2008-12), plus 2013 vesting option

Aramis Ramirez
5 years/$75M (2007-11), plus 2012 club option

Kosuke Fukudome
4 years/$48M (2008-11)

Ryan Dempster
4 years/$52M (2009-12)

Jeff Samardzija
5 years/$10M (2007-11), plus 2012 & 2013 club options

....and don't forget that not a SINGLE ONE of those signings were done with Ricketts as the owner. So, Ricketts is funding mistakes that are not his.

Face it, this team had a golden opportunity in 2007 and 2008 and failed. That window has closed. Its been time to move on and rebuild. So that means a few more years of struggling with bad teams and/or younger players. It happens. I guess just wait til next year.

It's amazing that the biggest Jackass in Cubs threads (sorry Steve) is the one making the most sense.

I honestly don't understand the uproar about the whole situation they are in. What does everyone expect Ricketts to do? You can't eat all those bad contracts, it's just not a realistic option. This team will probably be lucky to have a .500 record the next 2-3 seasons. Why pay big money to Girardi, Larussa, or whatever big name manager to manage a rebuilding club? I haven't really heard any good reason yet why Quade should not be the guy to get this job. I would have been okay with Sandberg getting the job, but are you going to run him out of town when the team sucks for 2 or 3 years? Why not wait for the right opportunity for Ryno to manage the club?

What exactly are the better options available to the Cubs? And yes I agree, Hendry should be gone, so let's leave that one alone. All the bad contracts are still going to be here even if the boob is shit-canned, so let's move on from beating that dead horse.

The only thing Hendry has done thats been solid is traded away some veterans and gotten something for them. Even if 1 or 2 of those prospects end up contributing at the Major League level, that works out. Lilly, Theriot, etc were likely just going to walk anyway.
