the champion this year had only one ex-Cub, Mike Fontenot

that's 2 less than the required # of ex-Cubs to deny a team a title

congrats to Mike...always one of my favorites

Andres Blanco and Clay Rapada were denied

What was your favorite thing about him?

I can't decide between his career -2.6 UZR or the lifetime .270avg which is crazy inflated due to being a platoon/matchup player in 2008. Good for him hitting the jackpot and landing on a team that had an all time great post season pitching staff

forgot about Mark Derosa

I guess he was on the DL and wasn't on the postseason roster

anybody know if he still gets a ring? that would be something considering he failed in 2008

also, Shawon Dunston got a ring! after all the Cub failures he founded greener pastures out west...he is a coach for SF...but coaches dont count in the ex-cub factor

so with Derosa that gives 2 ex-cubs, but still not sure if Derosa counts either

Everyone one gets a ring that was on the team for any amount of time during the regular season I believe. That includes current Texas catcher Bengie Molina.

You get a ring if you played a significant role in getting to the Series. because Molina played roughly half the season with SF, he gets one (plus a playoff share).
