Is the plan here to send him down knowing he might not do it and thus not pay him?

He still isn't close to the dbag Bradley was!!! or is!!

As a vet, he can refuse to go to AAA, but he will still get paid. The Cubs will now try to trade him (as I'm sure they have), but my guess is he's just going to be cut.

No matter what, Cubs need to foot the bill.

what gets lost in this is Hendry was mentioned in that article several times, yet Quade was mentioned NOT ONCE

Hendry's making all the calls here

goddamn such a control freak, what an asshole...bullying people around

it's obvious Quade is nothing more than a puppet manager...Hendry hated all these years of never feeling in control with Baker and Piniella, because he had to respect their reputation...thats why he didnt hire Ryno, because he didnt want to have to deal with that with an inexperienced manager...Hendry is more of a manager mentality, not a GM...he's too nervous of a guy and fits the personality of a manager...fuck that fat fuck

"we want Cashner to get the starts"
"we" means "Hendry"...it's like the manager isnt involved...what a joke of an organization

Im glad Silva is gone, but Im also glad the Cubs will have to pay him his entire salary...I just wish Seattle didnt let him off the hook for the buyout, etc...Hendry deserves to fail

I sympathize with Silva about the pitching coach though...Mark Riggins? no veteran pitcher wants a minor-league pitching coach

in any case, fuck Silva, I wish we still had Bradley, I liked him better, at least he had color (shut up, i mean figuratively) and personality

While he sucks and seemed to have a questionable attitude let us not forget that he allowed the cubs to rid themselves of the all time biggest pile of shit milton bradley. Thank you Carlos Silva for at least that.

Why anyone would trade for him, when he is going to refuse a AAA assignment and can just pick him up for the minimum. Either way the Cub is eating the $11M

Yeah, they may have to eat the $11 million he's owed, but they'll save at least that in buffet expenses...

are you kidding? unloading bradley and getting an old used up silva to win 10 games for a bad team last year was one of his better moves. they got what they could out of him and dumped his ass. at least they got some kind of return on him, got whatever production they could out of him, and kicked him to the curb. sounds pretty good to me.

frankly i couldnt believe they even got a living person in return for bradley, but his start of last season was the only thing they had going for them. i give hendry a tip of the cap for the deal that got him, and another for giving him the boot.

The Cubs only pay 6M with Seattle 5.5M. They should have moved Silva last year when he had value after the fast start. Oh well! Least they cut his ass. I wonder what "Big Z" will do given this was his buddy. Will he pout or will he earn his pay?

$8M. The Cubs have to pay the $2M buyout for his 2012 option.

Z earns his money imo. I have never questioned his effort, maybe his sanity from time to time, but when he is on the field he is there to kick some ass and win. Sometimes he is good, sometimes he gets beat around, sometimes he throws 100 pitches by the 4th inning and sometimes he has no hit stuff, but the effort is always there.

i wonder how the bradley deal is looking from seattles point of view? he rocked a .205 BA last year, and he is still there. ill take silvas 10 wins and a quick kick in the ass out the door over bradley and his 3-ring circus.

Who signed Bradley? You're not looking at the big picture. So if I got 10cents for a yellow piece of shit that I purchased thinking it was a gold bars for the office, then I would get a tip of the cap from my boss?

ME: "Hey boss, atleast you didn't have to flush it down the toilet. I got you 10 cents! and you save on toilet paper!"

BOSS "I tip my cap to you! Nice job getting that shit out of here. Now lets try not to piss away the rest of the budget. HA HA HA!

the bradley signing was terrible, we are all in agreement. at least he was able to acknowledge it and get something in return, and somehow some other team is stuck holding bradley. looked on on its own merit, that single move made him look like david copperfield.

the period of the cubs from 2000-2010 is a total failure, and hendry is at the center of it, but he is not any worse than many other GMs around the league. he is not as good as many others either. he is another guy in the middle, and they all have horrible trades and signings on their resume. his are enhanced because we have a front-row seat to watch and comment on them daily.

Ya gotta give him some credit. He went 33 words this time before using the word "bully". I think that's a record.

As a fan I want the best. His mistakes are enhanced because the team we root for hasn't won in over 100years!
Which GM would you rather have then Hendry?

SL Yes
MIL no
CIN no
PITT hell no

Out of all the GM's in our division, SL is the only one that I would take over Hendry. Maybe you have a point.

Actually the period of the Cubs between 2000-2010 was probably one of the greatest decades in the history of the organization (At least since the early 1900's). We were in the playoffs multiple times and won the division multiple times. Just no Series wins.

For whatever reason, starting in about 1998, everyone started expecting the Cubs to win a WS every year after decades of suck. So the disappointment of not winning stings a bit more when you have expectations.

 i would take every single one of those gms over hendry....hendry is by far the worst of that group..and probably the worst gm in baseball. hendry has spent more $ than all , has less young talent than all. and has their team in the worst position looking to the future.

in the years 2000-2010 the cubs made a couple concerted efforts to put together championship teams that resulted in 0 world series appearances. total failure.

who expects the cubs to win a world series every year? thats just a blanket statement that means nothing. you are right about the expectations though, naturally it hurts more when you fail if you think you actually have a shot. i havent had that feeling in several seasons.

Actually, the Cubs are set up quite nicely for FA next year when some big time talent hits the market. Plus, our minor leagues system is looking up as well, even with the trade for Garza.

Hendry has definitely made some bad moves in the past, but he has also made some amazing moves (ARam trade). And he has a knack for dumping bad players onto other teams (Sosa, Bradley, Hundley). Of course, he signed Bradley in the first place. His career has basically been defined by paying players that are supposed to perform lots of money and then having them not live up to expectations. He has a bunch of Luol Deng contracts on this team.

He certainly isn't the greatest GM, but he is far, far, far from the worst. Even though they won the WS a few years ago, Kenny Williams I think is a worse GM. When they won the WS, no one looked at that roster at the beginning of the year and said "championship". Since then, he has been consistently making sketchy decisions and bulking up the payroll with minimal results much like Hendry. Plus, the guy seems like a prick.

i think kenny is a good gm and hendry is worst in majors that being said , the reds have bruce who is 23 cueto 25 and votto 27 all locked up .. future is far better than the cubs awful soriano contract and zambrano contract . the brewers will lose prince but have braun and gallardo and greinke . brewers are in better shape looking forward and this season also.

On Sunday morning, Cubs manager Mike Quade said it was his decision, and his decision alone to drop Silva from the Cubs' 12-man pitching staff.

of course he would say that...he is reacting to other people saying the same thing as me...obviously he was asked about who made the call, meaning more people than just me think hendry is running the show

he is a puppet manager for Hendry, and he wants to be a yes man, so he says that in order to deflect the attention on Hendry

Quade is a puppet and Hendry is an asshole
