Does this moron know when to pull a pitcher? It was obvious 6 innings was Dempster's limit tonight, but he leaves him in not only after giving up a HR in the 7th, but then another shot for a double. And of course the next batter goes deep for a 2 run HR, and now it's a 5-4 game. Back to the bushes buddy.

What came first the chicken or the egg?

If Shingles would have fired Hendry the Cub probably would have not have had Quade, even though I am not of the opinion he is the problem.

These guys fucking blow.

True, but this guy must be blind to not know when to pull Dempster. What a joke.

The number of very questionable strategy calls with Quade show he is not up to snuff as a big league manager. He may have the communication skills, but cannot handle the strategy of big league ball. There is a reason this guy lanquished in the minors for decades. He is a minor league manager at best.

Oh I don't doubt that at all. My point is to the fact that someone is calling for a manager to be fired 10 games in. Stupid.

Was that true when they fired Savard and Quenneville took over?
I think Savvy was canned what 4 games into the season or whatever?

And it was a good move.

The only difference being savvy had an entire season before that to prove that they had to get someone waiting in the wings.

Let's see if Kwaid can keep it on the road for at least the first half before we talk firage.

+1 on this and people wanting Thornton demoted as well. Sample size people. It's April 11th. Let's slow our collective rolls

Quade knows the bullpen will be used heavily tomorrow. He had to get as much as possible out of Dempster tonight. Managers have to think about more than just the present game...especially on April 11th

The other 31 MLB teams all missed the boat on Quade the last 30 years. Hendry knows something that none of the other teams know. With Ricketts, Hendry & Quade at the helm, this is the year that the Cubs finally end the drought & win the World Series.

Ricketts would never allow it, but wait until the boos are reigning down at Wrigley and the seats are empty in September. And I thought Jim Essian was bad at strategy.

Point made, however by not pulling him, he had to use Marshall and Marmol to get the win. Pull him after 6 and you save the quality arms until tomorrow. Quade obviously wasn't capable of this basic analysis. Bush league clown!

For the record, I'm not advocating the firing of Quade. Shit every team should have their "Bevington". I'm just saying that sometimes you know pretty quick that it's going to be a long season.

Oh Jesus.

For someone who makes themselves out to be a baseball fan, you sure are a huge dope. Do you actually think this team would have any chance of competing if a big name managaer (i.e. Girardi, Larussa, or Torre) were here. The team is rebuilding and will be for the next 2-3 years. Why should they go out and spend big money on a manager for a team that is destined to fail? They could have named Bruce Kimm the manager again and I wouldn't have cared. There's no reason to spend big bucks to manage this garbage right now. Let all these unmoveable contracts expire and save the few extra million that could have been spent on a big time manager, and use it to sign somebody in the future. What's so hard about this plan to understand?

My only hope for this season is that it's fun bad. At least entertain me by losing hilariously.

I have to say that I was first guessing the decision the leave in Dempster after the double & the review....plenty of time to make the decision to pull him. Nope. Had to leave him in to give up his second bomb, almost 3rd w/ the double bouncing off the wall.

If we have seen anything from Demspter this year it is his ability to walk guys and then give up the long ball.

Yes, the team is lacking in many areas, and I don't think firing Quade is the answer....but I will say that in the small sample size we have seen thus far this year...Quade has not been great. Hell, they cant even get their signals straight on steal signs? No one has owned up to that.

This team needs a complete makeover and that has to start with ousting Hendry and Crane Kenney.

Let's just chill out here. The Cubs are still winning the division this year and everyone will be all over Quade's jock come October.

Instead, the intercity rivalry is just as annoying here...Bulls fans still don't understand the game is more than a flashy scorer, Bears fans can't come up with a full, coherent sentence, and Hawk fans...the Hawks fans on this board don't seem too bad actually. So I'll just take a shot at Krazy Ivan for ripping on hockey. Fucking Ivan.

I don't think there was one person on this board that thought letting Ben Gordon walk was a bad idea.

It's not about money and nowhere did I mention getting a high priced big name manager. It's about competency. Quade obviously is in over his head. There is a reason the guy languished in the bushes for decades. He is a Minor League baseball guy and should not be managing at the big league level. But hey, he is cheap! That's all Ricketts cares about.

So Demp was overtaxed to save the bullpen for the next game.
So if I have this right, it's better to blow a 4 run lead in a game in which your number 1 starter is going to be overused in order to save the bullpen for a game in which they probably have a very slim chance of winning.
Got it.
Don't like it.
Win today. Worry about tomorrow tomorrow.
