Throw Mateo in there for the transition guy and this Marshall, Wood to Marmol thing is pretty damn impressive.

I was actually liking the Wood, to Marshall, to Marmol as a more confusing order to hitters, Sliders, Curves, Sliders.

Either way, making these 6 inning games could be pretty impressive if Wells and CASH! can come back.

Would help if a starter or 2 would get a CG!

Oh yes I can!

I will agree Jeffers can throw his one inning in the 5th, when a starting pitcher is tired and his 97 MPH looks like 107 because Demp is tossing 87 MPH fastballs.

But after about 2 batters, they have his number.

I think it is quite obvious Jeff can't develop another pitch well enough to stay in the bigs and was a terrible $10 mill investment by Hendry.

This move by Hendry was the kinda shit that all GM's try to do to prove how smart they are, get ahead of the curve. Hendry thought this kid was going to be a big time major league starting pitcher and sunk the $10 mill into him for him NOT to play football. Then he gets to draft him in the second round, because everyone knew the kid was only going to play for the Cubs.

JENIUS!

Kinda like Kenny Williams locking up Closer Thornton EARLY for $12 M for 2 years, even when the guy had 1 full season to play at $3M.

i don't think you can really compare the shark signing to the deal thorton just got..thorton may get bumped back to set up man..but still a good deal for the sox..thorton is a quality arm in the pen and proven as much. shark will never be a major league player.

the deals are not comparable, just the mindset of the GM's trying to outsmart everyone else and strike early.

Yeah, a few bumps along the way so far but it is looking better than I thought it would. I still dont trust it, but I feel somewhat better about it.

 solid!  (except the Sox payroll is higher than the Cubs {I think}, still right on though)

Even a broken watch is still correct twice a day!

The point of Williams being a better GM is true, but their budgets are more or less the same these days.

Yes, Williams built a championship team.
That said, it looks like he might have built his second, but seems to have forgotten about needing a closer.
He'll probably be able to pick one up but the trade deadline might be too late.
Doesn't really make a difference, though.
He has nothing in the minors that anyone wants.
He's traded it all away.

Those numbers for Hendry are pretty telling. He backloaded every contract and rolled the dice that what he assembled would win a World Series before the clock struck midnight. They failed and we are left with the shell of a team that wasnt really good enough at it's peak.
