10 wins a row! Struck out 10 last night

10 wins a row, and he is just not getting his due, even if it does look ugly sometimes.

Dempster gets 10 wins a row and All Star comments are all over the place. Great leader, interviews, etc.

I didn't think that Z got the win last night. I thought it went 10.

Can Z play 1b when he isn't pitching?

As much as we'd like to attribute this streak to Zambrano getting some rest from the excessive workload he's shouldered during his career, the last 2 months have been mostly smoke and mirrors. In August, he posted a 2.23 ERA with a 1.61 WHIP, 6.4 BB/9 and an 85% strand rate. His xERA was 5.33. In September, he's had a .210 BABIP and a strand rate of 92%. This has regression written all over it.

Read this at the end of last year.

Hope Z keeps proving it wrong

Well, technically it isn't 10 wins in a row as much as it is that his last 10 decisions have been wins.

Carlos Zambrano is unequivocally the ace of this pitching staff. I know that WOO CUBBIES NATION loves to exhalt Ryan Dempster as the TRUE STAFF ACE, and yeah Ryan Dempster is a pretty cool guy who doesn't afraid of anything, but it's pretty damn obvious to anyone with an eye for the game that Z is your ace. Sure, he's a bit mental and prone to lapses that include walks and big (read 3+ run) innings, and sure he has flirted with having a 4.00 ERA for the last 4 seasons, but I have a feeling that we're going to see something closer to 2006 than the last three years... why? I have no idea; it's probably something to do with his dominant stretch during last august/september where he seemed to figure some things out. Mileage duly noted, don't forget that Carlos is only turning 30 this June.

Here's to hoping that this outing gets his SWAG (read: confidence) up so when he's facing better hitters/lineups he's comfortable in knowing that the stuff he's chucking is good enough to consistently get hitters out.

Great performance last night. Glad to see him save the bullpen since they are screwing around with another Russell start this series.
