Tommy Boy is digging a deep hole with his constant backing of Jim Hendry!

DO NOT, try and sell me that a change should only be made only in the offseason, because NOW is when a GM can make some moves. You bring someone in NOW, to start moving parts out, acquiring guys now, etc.

Not Replacing Hendry now will raise more questions if Ricketts cans him in the offseason.

I'm not trying to be argumentative but how often are GM's replaced midseason? I don't remember it happening very often but I'm sure it does.

You really do not want to can the GM in the middle of the season and bring in someone before the trade deadline. The ONLY way that would work is if you replace Hendry with someone already in the organization. Someone coming in with no knowledge of the organization has no time to get caught up on things and then make the right moves. I am all for getting rid of Hendry, but it should have been done in the offseason and since it wasn't they really need to wait until this next offseason to do it.

Right, and who can you get today? Most guys are probably with another organization.

So you supporters of keeping him now want him handling trades then?

Well, Sandberg is obviously out. The next logical choices would be Bob Dernier, Ron Cey, and Jodi Davis, respectively.

How exactly is he going to go about hiring a new GM? I don't think he has a clue as to what to look for in his replacement. He needs to get some old ass baseball lifer who was a successful GM that is now retired to come in and help him right this ship. There is no reason he can not go right now and get someone to act as this kind of consultant. I mentioned it somewhere a while back but I would go and get Bill Stoneman to do this. He knows how to draft and he knows how to develop home grown talent at the minor league levels and how to run a complete organization. The Angels had a stranglehold on the division while he was there and now that he is gone they are not drafting and developing like they were and they have made awful trades and signings in his absence.

I thought about that....but then I looked at where she worked. Being the assistant to Cashman is the same as being the assistant to Hendry except he can spend all the money in world to buy out the bad deals and go sign every top free agent every single year. Then she was with the Dodgers and while they were great at developing players once, it was before she got there.

Ng went to Chicago St University. Do you know who else went to Chicago St University? Tom Ricketts, Peter Ricketts and Laura Ricketts. Ng will be the next GM of the Chicago Cubs. Book it.

What do you know about her baseball philosophy? I'm all for her being a GM somewhere. This might be too much of a high profile, angry fan base, poor and fundamentally flawed organization for her. Being the first woman GM is going to be alot of pressure because there will be alot of eyes on the job she does and then to make it the fucked up Cubs will be double the pressure. I wouldn't want to be in her shoes.

Plus it'd be good p.r. to hire the first female GM.

I am not a supporter of Hendry. Just saying that bringing a guy/gal in now who has no knowledge of the organziation is putting them in a terrible position to make trades at the deadline. That would be just as bad as Hendry doing it himself, or maybe even worse.

And I would have no problem with Ng being the next GM

Amazed at how befuddled this group as on the topic. It's obvious the Jim Hendry way of doing things, when the bottomless checkbook is not around, is terrible.

While I don't think Tim Wilkens is the final answer he seems to be capable at identifying guys that can play in the majors. Which is something Hendry has been incapable of.

Wilkens also knows more about other teams minor league propsects.

How much of a certain players salary the Ricketts are willing to eat when they are traded is something I dont need Hendry for.

THE ONLY REASON, I see being given for Hendry not being released is that someone will pick him up tomorrow and even if they dont he will get calls from every GM asking how low the Ricketts will go on what it costs to get a number of players and Hendry will tell them.

Hendry is classic good ole boy, bullshitter and will have a job within 24 hours if he wants one.

Ricketts will not fire Hendry. He really believes the guy knows what he is doing. That is the part that pisses the knowledgeable fan off because he does not know shit without 135 mil to blow.
