I am shocked at how EVERY Beat Guy defends the GM's on all teams.

Abbatacola has now even been infected with soem Jim Hendry defense and we are now suppossed to be patient.

Per Matty

The "Look at his 3 playoff appearances" is not enough to stand on. First, he was the first GM in Cubs history that had an open checkbook! So to use the 3 playoff trips as evidence of Jim Hendry's baseball GM ability is not supporting evidence.

But to be fair, let's throw out the Highs (3 Playoffs) and the Lows (Z and Soriano deals) and examine Jimmy H on some of his other transactions.

1. I will use the Milton Bradley deal as the first example. I won't even tirade Good Guy Jim for the signing, but the foolishness that he did it with. Outbidding nobody and having no language at all regarding him "going nuts" which he had done 6 times before!

2. Aaron Miles, 3 Years $9 Mill and he had to get this guy? This was his first quick signing? he is the definition of Jourmeyman that anyone can pickup at any time. Proof of that? Jeff Baker who you picked up 30 days into the season. Leading me to my next point.

3. Second basemen????? This has been going on since Jim has got here. Depth at 2B has been amazing but why????? I have never seen a team compile more 2B in my life. The list would require a second page of this post alone.

4. Minor league development? Hello? Buehler? It has been TERRIBLE! Colvin.

5. Every single deal never sees Jim Hendry getting the better. Every single player or a great majority that need to be moved involve the cubs paying a guys salary or most of it? The most recent, Kosuke saw us get 2 player who will probably never see Wrigley without a ticket and once again, we needed to pay a majority of the remainder of the deal? Indians in a Penant race, only paid $1.5 Mill for a starting RF? That was the best deal you could cut? Why do I feel Jim can be bluffed out of a poker game with a bunch of psych patients in for lack of confidence treatments? This is almost every deal.

6. Samardzja. End the ND connections.

7. Veterans and Jim Hendry. He is everyones buddy! veterans will play in Hendrys world no matter what, he doesn't want anyone mad at him and this is why I feel Quade was given the job over Sandbderg. Sandberg would have sat them!

8. Quade!

9. I am 10 examples of bad for every example of good, this is why Jim Hendry is a bad GM!

10. Tim Wilkens should have the job! That's who. he has shown more in 1.5 years than Hendry had in 12

Wilkens drafts have been C's, the Heyden kid will be a huge swing for him. Could go B or D, but the kid needs to develop.

Castro, Barney, DJ, Cashner, came via Wilkens. These are not great players, yet, Castro we hope improves, but all under Wilkens, which is better than 12 years of Hendry.

I would like to know exactly how much Wilkin is involved with the Latin development program. He may very well have had nothing to do with Castro.

I heard the segment, also. Matt has held fast in his misguided assessment of the Shingles plan for the future of the franchise. Matty must really love bison.

Castro was a an amateur free agent signing in 2006. Wilkens had nothing to do with it. I am not impressed at all by this guy. The Simpson pick in Round 1 is beyond belief.

Didn't hear it but fuck Matt if that is his belief. His new wife must be a Hendry fan!

Very disappointed in Matt's opinion on Hendry. He used the "who's going to replace Hendry" argument....Rick Hahn for starters and the list would go on after that.

I like him with his role on B&B but I don't give a fuck about his Cubs thoughts. The games are on TV...I and the rest of the world can clearly see the issues.

Drinky may have had a few before he got on the air.

Let me add further evidence of Hendry's poor skills at negotiating.

He had to pay $2.5 M of Fuke's contract, yet The Indians were willing to give up their 3 top prospects tonight for Ubaldo Jimenez!

The point being, Hendry could not get them to basically take Fukudome and just pay the $4M this year, with nothing in return, which is what he got, for a team GOING FOR IT! Hendry had ALL the leverage in the deal and still basically did nothing.

Jim Hendry is a TERRIBLE Negotiator and thus should not be a GM! Thus he always overpays when it comes to evaluating a players contract value and thus everyone says he has no baseball knowledge. Except Matt Arkush Abbatacola

Don't forget that there are offers on the table for Aram and he refuses to approach him about a trade that he would probably accept because he "respects" him.

This is the "respect the veterans" issue. Don't think any other GM would not talk to a player for that reason.

Will you please go and play catch with Big Z again and get some info on the players perspective of this nonsense.

Not just knocking on the door, "Can Z come out and play catch?" :o

Need another suspension and then you have a guy with a ball and a glove looking for a friend and I was half joking when I said, "Can I get in" and happen to have my glove in car and he said "Come on".

That was his counseling. Some time with me. lol

I'm a big fan of Drinky, but if he said this he's crazy. He must be the only guy in Chicago to still defend Hendry.

He provided his own drop in with "Do you really think this guy doesn't know baseball?"

So I really thought about it and I thought about all the time the Cubs had a top 10 pick under his watch when he ran the minor league systems. Let's just say it was a whole bunch of times. Then I see Pitt, KC, Tampa, Cleveland, Milwaukee,Reds, St Louis bring up guys who are legit impact MLB players, not just 5'5" utility infielders.

Jim Hendry has been trying to draft a legit power hitter for his entire career as a Cub exec and he has nothing to show for it.

His 2 best moves of Aramis and D Lee, where predicated on the teams not be able to sign their own guys and someone thinking that Hendry knew what he was doing and that Bobby Hill and He CAN't Hit (Hee Sop Choi) where also MLB players.

If Josh Vitters was the Exception, that would be OK, but it's the norm with this guy.

I am sure Jim Hendry has some criteria for what he thinks is a good Baseball player, but that does not make that criteria right

So the basemant dwellers and some non basement dwellers are selling off pieces and preparing for the future while the GM of the 2nd worst team in baseball is sitting with his thumb in his ass?? Or maybe the wily old GM is playing the other GM's and will pounce when they are truely desparate?? Yeah I doubt it too but I guess I'll give him the benefit of the doubt....for now.

Why would any GM with vision want to trade away the players on this year's Cub team? The Cub are only three or four moves away from contending in 2012.

Fuck, fuck, fuckity, fuck...I despise that fat fuck.

honestly mattys show is less than listenable. I mean first he stuck up for hendry; then he has that creepy dirty cop that calls his show who invited matt to drive around with him.
