In any case, Quade needs to play him every day so the Cubs can get an idea what he can do. If he gives playing time to guys like Jeff Baker and Reed Johnson he is doing the organization no favors. Winning a couple extra games that mean nothing, is less important that evaluating talent that may have a place on this team in the future.

Quade did the same thing last year...playing the veteran retreads and leaving young guys on the bench

only under Quade would Xavier Nady be an everyday first-baseman

It's hard to find data on this, but I think Colvin is on pace to have the lowest batting average in MLB history for a non-pitcher with over 100 AB.

Coincidentally, Adam Dunn is on pace to shatter the all-time worst seasonal average for someone with at least 502 plate appearances. (Current record holder is Rob Deer at 0.179.)

Colvin's babip is .139 this year. I'm not crazy about babip but that is ridiculously low.

Could signify bad luck or could signify all he does it pop up a ton or fly out too much.
I'm not a believer in Babip being a "luck" statistic. Could also be that he's only hitting soft little nadas.

I think you need to be nicer to the mentally handicapped...you are one of them after all.
