Official MLB attendance figures are tickets sold.

NL used to have actual attendance numbers, they joined the AL calculation of tickets sold as attendance.

So the 37,000 might be a little off on those 20,000 person nights!

Pretty sure they make a buck or three on concessions, so all the empty seats this year had to have some impact. Personally, I ate plenty of tickets but "saved" on the other BS and didn't waste much time watching addax ass team.

For the first time in my life I actually saw the Cubs play more road games this season (6) than home games (3). I love to go see the ballparks around the league and make a nice weekend trip out of it. But I had many opportunities to go to more home games that I chose to take a pass on. Unless I see the team going in a more positive direction, I will probably see more road games again next season too.

the cubs arent like other cities

wrigley is a tourist attraction...the Cubs averaged 40,000 during the summer months....not selling out every game like the past, but damn close...it is a destination for Cub fans in other states and rural areas, and so they will always get extra fans like this no matter what...they will never suffer from bad attendance the way other smaller markets will

as far as concessions go, Im glad they took a hit...they should take a hit even if they sell out every game...nobody has any business feeding a system of $10 beers, $5 hot dogs, etc...anyone who feels bad about lower concession sales is dumb

What are your guys' thoughts for attendance moving forward? Didn't scalpers lose their shirt this year in April and May? Gotta think a lot of season ticket holders are not renewing.

I see a though year ahead. I can't imagine Tom doesn't see that as well. At this point, you aren't getting those numbers without winning. Even a bad splash like Fielder or Pujols won't sellout every game.

Each of the last two years I bought 4 games on the presale - 15% markup - so I could get Sunday games. I won't be doing that next year.

Attendance will be lower next year because nobody will be bullying 3,000,000 people to show up
