Just listened to an entire segment of local sports talk radio where they were discussing where Pujols is going to sign. One of the guys is convinced that he is signing with the Cubs because Theo needs a big splash in order to fill the ball park every day and the only way to do that is to sign Pujols.

 :|

Next time you are tempted to be upset about the state of Chicago Sports talk radio, consider some of the alternatives out there.

I get what you're saying but the ball park was pretty green during the last couple months last season.
I'm sure it will be filled with fans in the first 3-4 months of the season, especially after hiring the son of man to direct your team with wit, purity, a big checkbook, and divine right.

  Uh, there were a lot of people here saying the same thing.

I distinctly remember reading that somebody was "unimpressed" with the Dale Sveum hiring.

I understand the numb feeling that came with finding out that Ventura was your manager on the South Side, but really, are you saying that you were impressed by the Dale Sveum hiring?

No.

I'm just saying there were more than a couple of Cubs fans here that were hoping for a bigname manager.

I have no doubt that Missourah sports talk is pretty god awful, but there are meatballs in St Louie just as there are in Chicago.

I don't think Theo is looking to sign people in order to fill the seats, if he was he probably would have went for the cheap pop of getting Ryno to manage the team. I think he is bright enough to know that Cub fans are going to come to the park with or without Pujols if they have any type of hope that things are moving in the right direction. Last year there was no hope of that. This year there is plenty of that.

And your reading skills are short as well. Way to completely miss the point I was making.

You haven't heard bad until you listen to Albaquerque sports talk breaking down the early practices of New Mexico football.

And your point was what. Seats will be filled until they are bad again come August? Wow. That takes a lot of thought to figure out.

My point, little fella, is that someone from out of town might have thought, having seen Wrigley last being quite empty, that it might require a splash to get butts in the seats. Not terribly stupid a thought to have, if you're not from Chicago. And that while agreeing with Ralph there that it was a poor concept and kind of stupid, it's also kind of understandable.
Kind of like most of your posts. I understand why they're generally stupid posts. That makes them a bit less stupid when I read them, because my expectations are considerably lower when reading yours in comparison to other posters.

I thought you were referring to me at first when you said "unimpressed", but I never said anything about a "big name" manager.

The Cardinals had as many if not more empty seats than the Cubs last year. Just a dumb opinion.

We lived in St. Louis, Ballwin to be exact, for 5 years. I listened to KMOX during that time. I have lived in a few different places & listened to a lot of sports radio in other cities while traveling. Anyone who thinks that Chicago sports radio is bad obviously has never listened to out of state sports radio. Most of it is B A D.
