Sure the World Series was nice. However, being above .500 for most of the past two decades is overrated.

It seems that now is a perfect time to return to my natural allegiances. The team is still bad, so I can feel the pain of being a fan of the team. At the same time, hope has never been higher. There really could not be a better moment to be indoctrinated into all that is included into being a fan of this team.

How many times have I gotten home from the Cell and, while scraping the scum of the neighborhood off my shoes thought, these are not my people. These slack jawed, monosyllabic south siders present no kinship to me. I am college educated. I ate at Lakeshore Pizza. My baseball hats never quite fit correctly unless I put them on backwards after meticulously giving them a worn look through many dishwasher cycles.
