Kane County...Looks like the Royals one-year relationship with th Cougars is coming to an end...Wonder if the Royals will take over the Chiefs or will the Cardinals move from the Quad Cities back o Peoria.

Probably makes sense.

I wish the Illinois/Illinois-ish teams in independent ball would come together as a AA circuit for the Midwest. Call it the Lincoln League: you could have teams in Schaumburg, Gary, Crestwood, Joliet, Rockford, Springfield, O'Fallon, so forth. Would make more sense than sending guys to Knoxville and San Antonio and such out of geographic necessity.

There's a rule that says a minor league team can't be 40 miles (or there abouts) from a major league team. Joliet tried to get a minor league team but both the Sox and Cubs said no unless they pay a hefty fee. Kane County is right across the street from the limit.

Sucks for us cub fans but attendance hasn't been great. Probably the best class A park. Fleita and the Vonachens were tight so when he was canned I figured this was next

Who wiil have better talent--cubs or A ball? This is their plan. Watch the future in your backyard. Rather brilliant actually--if some talent develops. Big-ticket Cuban hotshot Solder? Who will pay more to see him--peoria or suburban Cub fans?

Joliet has got to be 40 miles from the cell no? I know it is 40 plus from wrigley.

The Sox can't get people to go to the Cell to watch them play because of the shit location. Who the hell is going to go to Joliet to see the farm team play?

Agreed, just thought the 40 mile rule would not be a hurdle.

I can't wait for the day you warm and fuzzy loving sheep call into the score to complain about the A ball game from the night before

I can't wait for the day when you die-Sox white hard fans call into to talk about anything regarding the 1st place White Sox game from the night before.

Uh, I dunno about that.

According to Google Maps, Wrigley Field to Silver Cross Hospital, which is in the far northeastern corner of Joliet proper, is 47.7 miles via shortest street route. Taking I94 to I57 to I80 is 49.2 miles.

I've been to both. Dayton > Peoria. But not by all that much. The Dragons draw really well.

I guess I'll be in Geneva a lot more. Kane County's gonna sell out a lot more nights now.

No. Just looked at the photos online. Looks very similar to Peoria except no upper deck here.

This makes a lot of sense. As a fanof the Cubs, I will be FAR more interested in seeing ballplayers I know will one day be playing for the major league club. It's a great ballpark and easy to get to.It will be considerably easier for players that have to go down for a rehab assignment. Much more convenient than going to Peoria and it's an area I would much rather travel to. Has to suck for the folks in Peoria, but it's a prudent move for the organization.

Yeah. that 3 hour bus ride to Peoria or 45 minute flight to Des Moines must have been a killer for Wood and Prior all those years.

WTF...the erotic world of my youth is being shattered with the board announcements that East Dubuque and Big Al's have cleaned themselves up. Pretty soon I'm going to have to drive down to the Florida-Georgia border just to get a proper lap dance

Love the move to Kane County. Randazzo might have just got a much better gig.
I'm sure the micro economy will love it as well.

Sox attendance.
As pathetic as 26k for a summer game against the first place YANKEES is - I can't blame a loyal Sox fan for not wanting to go to the Cell and all that involves.

Parking is $5 now. But you can drive right into the parking pass area in the first to rows without anyone questioning you.

I can't imagine the excitement of watching meaningless baseball and trying to placate my sad current existence that this person may eventually be an important player on a halfway decent major league team. That sounds awesome.

Oh, this thread is about the minor league team? I was talking about the Cubs.
