Apparently Crane is helping hire BB's replacement, and that has already garnered many moans and groans. I'm very aware that everyone thinks Crane Kenney is an idiot. And horrible at his job.


My question is, why do people think this? Is there actual evidence he is bad? Are there ex-employees that have explained why he is so bad?


I don't know anything about this at all and this isn't at all meant to defend him (I have no opinion on the subject). But it just feels like an urban myth that got out of control. Totally could be wrong, but I just can't recall any actual evidence that proves he is the moron everyone he says he is.

Bernstein is a big driver of it. I think it's just based off the fact that he has a strict business background but tries to interject himself into actual baseball decisions. I don't think there's any empirical proof of his performance either way.

Very aware of the sprinkling water thing, which was soooo stupid, but that doesn't mean he's bad at his job.

He has the same "baseball background" as Theo and Hoyer. He never played, scouted, managed, or coached. He isn't Jewish though.
