I agree with Darko. You need at least three years to evaluate. It's impossible to give Theo an A or F right now. He's incomplete. If you look at in terms of a college student, which you obviously are since you wanna grade it, it's the equivalence of a promising student who hasn't done well or poor yet. He has stated his thesis. We'll see how well he is able to follow through on it.

I would give them an A. Cubs only have to find a 3B and RF for the field. The pitching is very awful. Like that feeling when it is too hot out when you've been drinking all day. Say you were in a really large parking lot and confused from all the booze. That is what the Cubs pitching staff is. They got like two guys worth keeping!!

Starters:
Keep Samardzija and Wood. Volstad should be put on the Cubs enemics list. I guess Theo can scare up 3/5th of the rotation by the time they break camp.

Bullpen Area Humans:
Marmol needs to go. Get a 3B or RF for him. Genius... This GM stuff is so easy. I am a Camp(and Kamps) guy for a long time as mid-relief 6 or 7th inning guy. Russell can stay since he is lefty with a steady 1.30 WHIP. Bullpens need lefties by default right?? Manny Corpas?? Somebody is doing a favor having him on the team. Bowden is Rex Sox guy, he is staying with the club. Berken can go to spring training, but the kids will take him off the team.

I can understand giving an "incomplete". That's a legitimate viewpoint. I can also understand giving an "F". So far he has only presided over one horrible season. The fact that Soler is riding a bus on Randall Road is of little consequence right now.

I know everyone on here has explained to me how wrong I am. I have to stick with what I stated before the season started. Last year was the wrong year to start a "tear down". With the advent of an extra playoff team, there was no reason to not compete. After 103 year wait,what's one more year?
I also felt this way that if you have no youngster to put at a position,there is nothing wrong with aquiring a servicable part. I still feel that way. Guys on here react to that simple premise and call me a meatball, BUT if you stand for nothing,you will fall for anything.

I agree with you, jimmy.

I also see the different ways that the media handles the two Chicago teams. If the Sox were to willfully make the team one of the worst in history, management would be excoriated in the local press. But somehow, some way, the Cubs have actually convinced the media and a good portion of the fans that this was necessary and is a great and positive thing. That may be the true genius of Theo Epstein.

Its incomplete, but he's failed his first assignment. Gotta a lot of work to do to bring up that grade.
