Should the Cubs pick him up? He can't hit but can field. Right now,Valebuena & Lillibridge will share 3rd.

No. In the first place, he's not that good and he has a bad back, so he's likely to break down again. Plus, in order to aquire someone like this, it would mean trading away a prospect. That's the last thing we want to do....trade away someone who might be valuable down the road for a stop-gap type player. If we trade prospects it has to be for someone who would fit into long range plans. A piece of the puzzle type of guy. Morel is not that kind of player.

and Morel has options so he hasn't been waived. Even so, no.

I can picture all of the Cubs executives walking into the office reaching up to touch a picture of you that hangs above the entrance to the building, akin to how the Notre Dame football players do with that one thing on their way out to the field. You are no doubt an inspiraton to the Cubs, who consider you an important part of the organization. You're like the 8th Ricketts or whatever.... no doubt before they make a decision to send Baez down they give you a jingle to make sure that they're doing the right thing. If only the US government had that kind of humble wisdom.... why we might not live in a minority-tainted cesspool that's noticeably lacking a border fence!

Fuck it, you need a statue outside of Wrigley Field. The caption can read "ELMHURST $TEVE: HE PAINTS FOR US"

"I'll take 'People not going to see that new Jackie Robinson movie for $500, Alex"

You sons of bitches laughing at me? I guarantee you, everyone else in baseball is laughing at who the Cubs are wheeling out at 3rd. The Cubs skipper has admitted scanning the waiver wire for anyone who would be considered a step up from the current bad hybrid at 3rd right now. If they could get Morel from the Sox for some wandering career minor leaguer (Bobby Scales-type guy),then why not?

Jimmy bringing the fire and passion. I like it. Morel's problem is nothing a good course of steroids wouldn't fix.

Its all good, jimmy. When the Cubs move Edwin Jackson, with his sub .500 record and 4.10 ERA at the AS break, they'll be sure to get a can't miss 3rd base prospect in return!

James, Brent Morel isn't a Free Ajent.

Who do you want to give up for him?

I already said that above, not much. I just think he is a little upgrade of what passes for a Cubs 3rd basemen right now. I still think Luis Valebuena might be decent. He looks good at the plate but can't hit for average. He has a nice glove, too.

Kenny Williams isn't the White Sox GM anymore. Who else would give up top prospects for sub bar help?
