why isn't the team any good?

Fiction writer Gordon Whitenmeyer has lost his #1 story when Baez was sent to A ball. Now he is left with the sotry about the high desirability of David DeJesus ("everyone" wants him) and Soriano to other teams.

It's lost on him that De Jesus was just recently a FA and was left to sign with a team he knew would lose 100 games because of the lack of market for his skills.

you don't think people want David DeJesus? You're nuts. He was a sneaky pickup that has paid off well and would pay off much more for a competitive team.

DeJesus is the Cubs 4th best outfielder. I would start Soriano,Sappelt and Hairston. I would play them fulltime until they prove they can't hit rhp. The 2 lefty bats arwe punch & judy types.

From watching him. I think he has a little more pop in his bat. I would like to see him given the chance at least. What's the point of playing DeJesus? Where is he in the big 2015 WS team?

I guess we'll never know as he's never been on a competitive team in his going on 11 year career.

completely disagree. If you're going to find out what Sappelt and Hairston can do, ok. But then don't play Soriano. I love DeJesus. He's very valuable as a leadoff hitter that sees a lot of pitches. His patience reminds me of when Lofton was still decent.

Thanks for allowing me a glimpse of your perspective COF. DeJesus is not Lofton in his good years

 It always comes back to Lofton

Lofton was Griffey without the power for a while.

DeJesus is not in the same zip code

Dolphin, the not being on a competitive team is bullshit and you know it.

DeJesus is what he was supposed to be....a guy to fill in until Soler and/or Almora are ready for the big leagues. He commands a low salary and is a decent player. Has decent speed but doesn't steal many bases. Has little power but plays pretty good defense and hits enough to be a credible MLB player. He's a stop-gap guy thats all. But I like his hustle and it's hard to be too critical of a guy giving all he's got to give.

Yeah, than fill the roster with 25 truck drivers. They will hustle, too. The Cubs need talent to compete. Hustle is nice IF it comes with talent. Dejesus batted .260 with an ok OBP of .350,but showed little pop. I would play Sappelt and Hairston to see what they look like for about 30-40 games in a row .

I think at the end of the coming season you will have a different opinion of Sappelt. I don't think he's a starter nor is Hairston, unless the pitcher is a lefty. You want talent....be patient. Soler and Almora (along with Baez on the infield) will be on the way in a year or two. Do you really think the Cubs would refrain from starting Sappelt or Hairston ahead of DeJesus because of salary or some other concern? I think they just view DeJesus as better. Against left handed starters Hairston will be in and DeJesus will usually sit though.

I think that injury is going to lead to a disappointing season for Almora. I wouldn't let it affect your opinion of him but hand/wrist injuries really seem to sap power until it is rested.

This has been especially true twice with Konerko.

The cubs are like the last place team in a fantasy keeper league that has a couple of good guys and they trade them for rookies or minor league guys.

Dejesus is on year 2 of his deal and if he can bat his career BA, they will get a nice prospect. Sure that prospect will have a 5 or 10-1 chance of being a solid major league pitcher as an example. So you got 10 of those guys and one should pan out.

Buy 10 lotto tickets, I bet one of them gets you back a 1$.

So far. I'm hitting .134 through 6 weeks of the 2014 season. .160 career MLB average.

This is what happens when the stupid managerial AI promotes you before you have even 1 stat above 59.

No doubt he will be given another chance this year, but it is just a chance and he better do something with it. Dont need to hear about what he is doing in the minors any more.

I guess old Gordo was right and I was wrong. That market for Dejesus was huge.

The Nats must have money to burn. They get his contract for next season at 6.5?? That's nuts. I guess Len Kasper will have to find a new Cub to make up lies about. For what DeJesus gave the Cubs they could find off the waiver wire for much cheaper.

Ha,that's a good one. All Kasper talked about for almost 2 seasons is how this guy worked the count, good OBP,blah, blah. He barely approached mediocre on my radar and should have been nothing more than a backup.
