From my guy, Rizzo, kind of a dick and basically the hardass Dale, Boz and Deer gang are there to be bigger dicks and make some guys focus. rizzo, was and is still partially all about the HR. It's still a battle to get him to shorten up, but it is a battle of wills between them.

In the bigger picture, the comparison was made to Ditka about getting a team with strong and stubborn personalities, while it does have the goal of winning, some guys are kinda assholes, some say sore losers, but in order to get them to listen you need a leader or a bigger asshole in charge and thats what Ditka was. To a degree, same thing with Dale and his band of bikers (Deer and Bosio). They try to make it perfectly clear who is in charge and if you dont want to listen , you wont play, or you wont be here.

It was something that Ozzie did pretty well, he was in charge (Except when Kenny was in charge) and if you didnt do what he wanted, you sat.

Interesting. I didn't see him as being the dickhead player. He usually has good body language.

Seen him sit in the dugout for extended time after tough losses, really pissed.

He isnt lazy, he wants to win and he is stubborn.

Agree, you dont get his true personality from seeing him on TV, but this is an element that Theo&Co want, they want guys who are cocky, stubborn and not willing to lose. Basically, win at all costs.

I will take that attitude everyday over the Derek Lee "who gives a shit as long as the check still clears" attitude

I think he should concentrate on power, he is probably never going to be a high obp or avg at the plate. Let him hit 260 with 30 homers. Theo probably getting scared he traded twice for a Guy at the easiest position to fill. .

I think they would be fine with .260 and 30/100

They fear him becoming Dunn.

Would you be content with him being Dunn? I would, I don't ever see him being that good or having that power.

No, I don't want him to be an out of shape and lazy all or nothing hitter with no defensive position as he gets older due to the before mentioned laziness.

I would like him to be a left handed power to all fields bat that is just a piece in the lineup.

I would like him to be a Joey Votto at a .280 clip. I think he can do that. Sacrifice some power for some better at bats with a shorter swing. I think he can do it.

You have to fail a little in order to change otherwise, why else would you change? He is going through the normal response to a nice second half last year. Pitchers adjusted and now he will have to adjust.

I would rather have a guy who hates to lose and might have a challenging personality rather than Starlin Castro whose is looking at his stats every night on his way out to a club.

4 years ago when Castro came up,I looked at his minor league stats and saw 25 errors. I watched him play terrible SS for the Cubs. I said they should move him to 2nd or LF. There were those on here that argued and said keep him at SS,he will "get it". 4 years later he still blows and now he can't hit. He IS Mike Caruso.

Never ceases to amaze me how the latest flavor of player/prospect gets over valued by Cubs fans. It really is quite entertaining seeing the faith they currently have in Rizzo and Castro.

He wasn't really an over valued prospect. The guy justified expectations at the MLB level for multiple seasons. It's just that I see him as one of those hollow numbers type of stars with complete satisfaction in simply being good rather than great.
