Get there at 8 AM, this is day 2 of the event, I am not a long timer enough to be a day 1er. We enter CF bleachers and login. from CF we can do a scan of Wrigley and see which seats are available. I see a few in the Bullpens (both) front rows! This is my target.

8 AM, doors open, I knock over Dane Placko for the 3rd year in a row and jog enough to get to these seats first! They dont say SEC 9, they say BPN 9? I look down my pricing guide and see $17,000 per seat! DOH! Not happening, however, while I sat in shock, they brought out some labels for the seats 4 rows behind that for less than half that! GRABBED!

One good sign came out of this, the cubs said this is the last season they plan to do this "Run for your seats" as they plan to see very little turnover in upcoming seasons. They have run a declining turnover rate the past 3 years and I can say from the available seats this year, there was many less seats available this year than in the past.

I wonder how much of that is marketing bs. Unless a lot of people believe the Cubs are turning the corner (despite all recorded evidence), I think attendance is going to continue to decline for another couple of years. It's a small sample size, but I know three season ticket holders who gave them up after this past year.

considering we walk in and actually see the available seats, its easy to see there are less seats available.

And if it was just BS, then they are eating seats just to be able to say they have less seats?

I am like 80,000 on the wait list. My retirement dream is to have season tickets and attend every game. I don't really want season tickets for at least 15 years....

Selling 10 games, might break it into (2) 5 game packages - 4 seats for each game

5 good games, 5 bad games. (Goods include, Yankees, cards, nats,)

Selling at cost if interested PM me, havent split tickets yet

Yes, I think there are possibly more unsold/available seats than they are letting on, but that's just a guess. Maybe the hedge funds have swooped in to buy low (though $17k is hardly low). I'm just saying the fundamentals (i.e., losing almost 300 games in three years, a down economy, ticket brokers getting crushed, etc.) don't seem to jive with the lower turnover rate they claim.

So they arent selling them because they dont want people to see that they have them for sale because it would look bad?????????

The point is to sell tickets, not to create a facade that they have less tickets available?

I think we're on tomorrow. We'd like to move from 528 to more of the middle by the press box. What's our chances, bigfan?

Yes.

When those four tickets behind the front row magically appeared, did you wonder why? Were they simply unorganized and didn't have those seats ready, or did they see you in sticker shock and thought they could reel you in with something cheaper?

I'm not saying that...I just think they are going to put whatever lipstick they can on the pig. They don't want you to think there is declining demand, even if there is.

Didn't he walk across the country? How can he still be fat after that?

Has anybody ever seen that guy and the guy in the Kyle Busch/M&M's jacket in the same place at the same time? Hmmm.....

1. My seats "Magically" appeared because someone gave them up. Just like when I gave up my seats, they printed up sheets of paper for my seats and brought them out.

2. City, I didnt look in the upper deck at all, but I did look behind plate in 100 and 200 level, nothing there behind home plate. But that might be to create the illusion that they have a demand for those tickets.

3. The guy behind the plate, while he has some big money, not enough to buy the cubs and fund this type of expansion.

4. There is no "holding back tickets to make it look like there is a demand". No team in any sports holds any tickets off the market, unless the demand is so high they know they will need them. During the Jordan years if someone didnt renew tickets (that person was an idiot) they kept every single ticket they could get back.
