Last time the Cubs went 66-96, they got a new manager, said "fuck it," and spent a ton of money to make sure this stopped happening. I suggest they do it again.

I think swaimer sticks but Rob Deer and the rest of his staff get shown the door.

JP, this is the end of big brush complaining. By cracky? What exactly would you do to make the Cubs contenders in 2014, and create future success? Be specific.

They should trade Sveum and staff for some international spending money.

Sign Donnie Murphy and go all in for the Japanese pitcher.

to be honest, I have to check the FA list before I could answer that. I don't want any huge contract signings but maybe 3-5 guys who could actually hit would be nice.

Not bad. Except they would have to trade it away for marginal prospects like Torreyes.

That's all I ask. If you look at the crop, I think you'll start creeping to the Drop In dark side. Not that Darkside. #NoHomo #NotThatTheresAnythingWrongWithThat

Let's hope Soler and Almora perform well in the AFL.

And hopefully Svuem is launched tomorrow. They should keep Dave McKay however.

As to them not spending to redo the clubhouse this offseason due to fear of "rooftop litigation", that's total bullshit. This debt servicing must be killing Ricketts which is not good. I wonder how pissed Theo is about this and if he feels he was misled when he was hired. There's been virtually no reporting on what is happening behind the scenes...

I can't believe this story isn't blowing up. Not starting this year sounds like a huge fuck up. Need the big man's insight on this as he lives in the wrigley hood and knows all the inner workings.

It was a very productive year. They got a very good pick in Bryant, secured several good prospects (Edwards stands out amongst others) as well as the #4 pick in 2014. The only screw up in the past 12 months was signing Jackson. I'm hoping they sign Girardi to manage the team, as he did such a great job in his 1st year managing the Florida Marlins. That team was expected to lose 110 games, but developed quickly and stayed around .500, with Girardi earning Manager of the year. He can help the young Cubs develop and has proven he can handle a veteran/contending team as well. So no need to worry about a point B, to Point C guy after a couple years. No free agents should be signed, unless they are short term guys who can be flipped at the trade deadline. It's not time for that yet.

I would like to see them develop an actual plan regarding the future of the middle of the infield. Barney is about as useful as a good hitting pitcher in the batting order. You can hide him on a good offensive team but not on this team. Baez and Castro should not both be playing SS at their respective levels all next season.
I would also like Castillo to get some more strength. He has Jason Kendall type power behind the plate right now. Kind of weird for a guy who isn't that small.

Rickets is in the clubhouse with some of the staff. He could be terminating them....hopefully.
