What the fuck is this guy smoking?

"(Hitting coach) Billy Mueller and (assistant hitting coach) Mike Brumley talk to the players a lot about trying to take the emotion out of it, slow the game down. But it's still a process and obviously we haven't gotten where we need to be, so we've got to keep chipping way and as the season progresses, we find that formula that gives us an opportunity to do those things."

Renteria shunned the notion that his players have peaked and have no room for growth.

"Are these guys the final product?" Renteria replied. "No. There's a lot of skill in these guys, and they're not completely there yet. They're chipping away.

"If you want to call it the beauty of the process, the reality is I have to understand the perspective and understand their skill set and know we're still chipping way and helping them become the players we want them to be."

So, to summarize, he is saying young players don't have the game mastered.

And you disagree?

Eh, two Sox fans and batshit crazy pasta. Won't bother...

There is absolutely nothing contradictory or controversial in the quotes you posted.

This is a reach, even for you.

looking at this current roster minus the guys who are actually performing (rizzo, castro, castillo) I think he is full of crap. What, Lake's going to suddenly turn into a patient hitter?

jimmy has been about 2 years ahead of Cubbie Nation so far. That is why Cubbie Nation hates him.

I'm batshit crazy? What fucking young players are you looking at on this Cubs roster that needs to improve their hitting? Castillo,Castro & Rizzo are young veterans. The rest of that lineup is minor league/barely major league crap.

Ah, so Jimmy has reclassified the good young players on the Cubs as VETS, so that he can go on saying they have no good young players.

Maybe let Castillo, Castro, or Rizzo turn 25 before you call them veterans.

If you think Olt is not developing, you're crazy. Lake can be a contributor at the major league level.

Plus, what is Renteria supposed to say? That the talent is awful? Be real, Jimmy

Yeah, that's what a man would say. He's a puppet. If Harry was doing the games today,he would still be dead BUT in his prime,he would rip Theo a new one for this never ending shit parade.

Oh, ok. So you want the guy that just got the job he's been working years for to say something that will probably get him fired.

Makes sense.

Are these guys the final product? "I hope not"

that's the response I'm looking for.

Yes,I know that. That's what I would do and so would Don Baylor,Dusty Baker,Larry Bowa & Leo Durocher just to name a few. Theo would not dare fire him now for speaking the truth. He knows how that would look.

You are nuts, Jimmy. Baylor had awful teams, never said shit close to that. Baker, too. And those guys were both already established managers.

Why dont you just make a thread called "The Cubs suck and Im mad but unsure who to blame" and then just post swear words in it when you feel the need?

Just be glad you weren't born 1,000 years ago. Cubbie Nation would have burned you at the stake for your blasphemy.

Renteria on Jimmy

yes, I do. I want a guy who says "we have a lot of potential, but we're not sure what the ceiling is on some of these guys. I don't know exactly what we have yet".

Unreasonable expectation.

The guy gave a shorter version of what you want. And he pretty much said that /\ in his further comments.

You guys are just looking for a witch to burn, like Rick said.

Go after Ricketts, Theo, Jed, Crane Kenny, Renteria's strategic moves.

Anything but, "he didnt rip the players hard enough in the media"

RPB,

2 things about Baylor. He liked to bunt and he wanted things done his way. He insisted the Cubs fire Oscar Acosta, the pitching coach and he was at odds with SuperStar Sosa during his time here. So though you think the things you say to me make sense, they are not actually backed up with fact. So keep tooting your horn. At least you can hear it if I can't.

As a statement, Renteria should murder somebody on the roster. That will show everyone he means business.

I read and heard everything Baylor ever said on the Cubs. There was no feud with Sosa. Hammer doesnt feud with the nail. He tried to call him out and he got put in his place by management who were too busy counting money from Sosa's output to care what the fuck Baylor said. And Baylor's idea that a guy who was averaging 60 homers a year should bunt, was one of the worst ideas in the history of baseball.

Dont think for a second you know any more about the Cubs than I do (or anyone else on this board) because you're old and consistently bitch. We've all suffered with them Jimmy. You just post non sensical bullshit like this and Sox fans use it to troll Cub fans. You are a Sox fan's toy.
