FROM TMZ:

Texas Rangers catcher Geovany Soto is apologizing to teammates, fans and his bosses ... saying he's "embarrassed" after being arrested for weed possession last night.

The 31-year-old former NL Rookie of the Year was pulled over for speeding in Grapevine, TX around 10PM Wednesday night ... and during the stop, cops say they found a small amount of pot.

Soto was ultimately arrested for marijuana possession -- and was hauled to a nearby station where he was booked and posed for a mug shot. He was released on $500 bail.

Moments ago, Soto issued a statement saying, "I was stopped by Grapevine Police on Wednesday night. I am embarrassed and would like to apologize to my family, the Rangers organization, and our fans that I was taken in on this charge."

He added, "Because this is an ongoing case, I cannot discuss this matter any further at this time.”

A guy in my fraternity at AZ had this nickname. his real name is actually really close to WEEDMAN, he was a mid level level dealer at U of A, during winter break his roomie moved out and he turned the guys closet into a Grow Room. His room was directly across the hall from mine and I had a key to the room, so if I if I ever needed something, it was there for me.

during parties if guys wanted a joint, he usually just gave it to them.

so at the end of year, when everyone was packing up to go home, getting on planes, etc. Everyone kind of repaid this guy with some coke, shrooms, pot, etc whatever they had left. So, he had a pile of items in the final days of school, laid out on his bed.

I am across the hall, with my stuff packed, but I had about 4 hours until my flight, so I am just laying on the bed watching some cub and he says he is going to the "Sausage deli" for some samwiches, asks if I want anything? I said NO.

15 minutes later, he calls me, kind of freaking out and just says "Go into my room and throw away EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!" <click>

Kind of a shocking phone call.

Now obviousely, I am not running in and tossing or flushing everything, but as I sit up on my bed from this call, about 30 seconds later SWAT....yes, full blown SWAT with dogs, etc. are outside my room, with a guy telling me to stay in my room, he shuts the door and they break down this guys door!

Later we get the full story, that they had been watching him for some time. They had this planned of taking him down on the last day of school. They waited until he left for any reason, breakfast, class, etc and they nabbed him outside the Sausage Deli, offered him a deal to sign the warrant and they will go easy on him....he claimed he left his wallet inside, walked back in, called me and said dump the stuff and then signed the warrant. So I ahd about 1 minute to do it, if I chose to. Glad I didnt.

They brought him back in cuffs, brought him into the room. Went over the charges, as he is now into the distribution realm. probably had about 10 pounds ready to got back to Omaha and then the other party favors and 5 full blown plants.

2 years of legal fights, he gets off with probation, first offense, owes community service, graduates in 5.5 years....actually very smart guy, good GPA 3.5/4....gets a job at the OTB as a manager, where $50K came up missing on his watch...he was fired,,,,they pressed charges.....and I havent talked to him since.

You would think a guy who gets his stache plucked would also have his eyebrows done!

agree, but it's one thing if he just happed to be a guy who worked at an OTB and had $50G missing, just kinda strange that he has these legal run ins.

One other thing he did...

Bought a warehouse full of Keds Gymshoes with U of A logo on them in Mexico. Maybe 1000 pairs? for like $5,000.00 Sold them for $20 a pair. Think thats what he used for the legal bill on mistake #1, then got busted for knockoff or non NCAA sanctioned stuff. As he was just selling them out of his apt to people, he just got a letter to stop and he did.

Drive into Nogales for a good dinner and pick up 2 or 3 pounds of pot, then drive back was a typical friday night for us. Was no big deal. 1 guy at the border, nobody cared.

now, it's a war zone. In case you are not aware, Nogales is 1/2 in Mexico and 1/2 in the US. Not sure how that works or why someone said OK, but thats how it is.

wow, dude can't catch a break. reading his stories, getting jelly--dude sells weed during college, scores a bunch of freebies last week of school; dude buys a bunch of cheap sneakers, flips em for mad profit--- next thing you know Image and the back-burner-jealousy becomes clucking-sympathy.

BigFan + The Inquisitor = Match?

I don't think he should apologize for having weed. Who cares if he has weed?

Now the PEDs he had in his system back in the late 2000's... maybe he should consider an apology for that.

He should apologize to his man for keeping their love secret from everyone all these years.

I am not Inquis and I can't really say I read his posts, but why do you think I am him? did he associate with some known drug dealers back in the day?

I have also said Inqui, has no Mults and isn't one, as I did look to see after others have made the same claim, or else I wouldn't even be asking.

Why is he speeding with weed on him, and why didn't he stash the weed somewhere. It's not that hard to stash a small amount of weed in the car.
