... about the Cubs?

Is it their popularity?

Is it their ownership?

Is it their GM and his staff?

Is it the patience of the fans?

It seems that anytime any Cub supporter has anything positive to say about the Cubs, a Sox fan gets all worked up and has to tell them why they're wrong. I just need to know where the deep, festering hatred of everything Cub comes from. And "I don't hate the Cubs" is not acceptable. We all know you don't go on Brewers message boards to pontificate every day about why their team sucks and their fans suck. Why the Cubs?

I would have put this in the Sox section, but I wanted to make sure you'd see it.

The media coverage. Nothing else bothers me.

Didn't you over the weekend put the blame on Sox fans because a Cubs fan created a thread that wasn't positive about the Cubs?

Maybe you should sit a few of these out and think about you own biases here.

I think it is more than fair for anyone to question anyone on things they disagree with. If you feel that the thoughts are wrong then respond to them.

I'm more critical of the Bears than I am of the Cubs, and I'm a Bears fan.

When a Cubs fan declares #missionaccomplished he's going to get grief for it.

Rick, although you try to portray yourself as the "ethical arguer," you know very well that I have no problem with anyone arguing a point.

But the arguing of points on this topic (and many others) become so circular that I'm convinced the "arguers" have forgotten what their original point was.

What exactly is your (or any White Sox fan's) thesis here? That Cub fans are overly optimistic? Every goddamn thread turns into Sox fans talking about how gullible Cubs fans are and how it can't be possible that they are so naïve. It's absurd.

The Cubs have not won a fucking World Series in 106 years. 106 years. Are we* probably more accepting of "plans" than another fan base? Probably. Is there a lost opportunity cost in not competing every year? Well... 106 years of history tells us that that's likely not the case. If competing every year gives the Cubs a 10% chance of winning a World Series within the next ten years, but waiting a few years gives the Cubs a 20% chance of winning within the next ten years, why wouldn't Cubs fans take the thing that seems more likely? They haven't won one in 106 fucking years!

Beyond that, why are Sox fans so intent on shitting on every single thing Cubs fans get excited about? I mean, IMU makes a thread about next year or whatever the hell it was, and Sox fans become outraged. Does that say more about IMU or Sox fans? There exists a certain insecurity within Sox fandom that I don't know whether to be angry about or sad about. It's like you all secretly want to be Cub fans, but many years ago, you declared yourself Sox fans and can't go back.

* Full disclosure - I don't meet JORR's definition of fan.

you should have probably plunked down the $150 for the hand release and submitted the bill to blue cross to see if they covered it as an alternative mental health remedy

I'll give you a quick real answer.

The Cubs fan do, and will continue to troll the Sox section too. They've been fairly low key, but in reality, what exactly can they say the past 2 years? HAHA, you suck for 2 years in a row!

Still, they find a way to dump all over Abreu, Stone, Hawk, Jerry, Gordon Beckham, Gillaspie, Hahn, and pretty much everyone else. The only difference is that we don't have a bunch of Sox fans saying that everything is great and we should expect to be the 90s Braves, or have a long period of extended dominance. We had a prediction thread where Sox fans were openly mocked for thinking they MAY be good enough to win half of their games this year. THE INQUISITOR mocked me for a prediction I never even made that the Sox would be .500. Kirkwood has created a huge thread basically saying "Hahn is a clueless idiot". Now, I'm not complaining about anything but THE INQUISITOR misquoting me but it also should put things in perspective. You, and many others seem to believe that Cubs fans are innocent little baseball minds that just get beat up by the big meanie White Sox fans. How about the next time that Kirkwood predicts the Sox won't make the playoffs once over the next 5 years you create a "Cubs fans: What bother you most..." thread?

The best revenge for all Cubs fans is to wait for all their dreams to come true and then bump those threads and laugh just like I will to Kirkwood.

I can only imagine what the Cubs fans are going to be like if they finally get good. JORR and good dolphin will need to change their names.

After all of this, its actually quite sad that we have to say "IF" they get good. When Theo got here, the expectations were generally that this should be a playoff team in 2014-2015. There is a chance of that happening, but its more likely that next year is an 80-85 win season, and maybe 2016 you start penciling them in during spring training to be frontrunners for the division title.
