I would hate to see the Sox get a better draft pick, but in case you have not noticed.....the Sox have slipped to 12 games under .500, while the Cubs are now at 14 games under .500. It is entirely possible the Cubs will again finish with the better regular season record. This despite the Rookie of the year (Abreau) who will likely be an MVP finalist as well and a Cy Young candidate (Sale) as well. While the Cubs have begun bringing up good young players and improving, the Sox seem to be going through the motions and playing uninspired Baseball. Unless we get Jackson back in the rotation, this may be irreversible.

What kind of pathetic fan likes to boast about how many less games his favorite team is under .500 than the crosstown rival team? That's like bragging about a D+ in high school.

Yeah. Pretty pathetic sports thought.

Typical, always wrapped up in what the White Sox are doing.

Again, 2005. Wrap yourself up in that.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that if you search all preseason threads you will find yours truly saying if all fell right this is a 500 team (Sox) and from there anything can happen.

I would like to credit pittmike. They were a .500 team for 4-5 of the season. But from there they went very south. A bullpen makes this a .500 team i think.

Yeah I was pretty close. At the end of the year I did not expect to be taking things apart and experimenting. Better than the 67 win I heard many projecting at the start.

Hey, I hope the Cubs wind up with a worse record so they get the better draft choice. I'm surprised at how bad they have become. Trading their closer for a 3rd baseman (Davidson) that's hitting around .200 at AAA sure didn't work out though.

Agree that the taking pride in the better record for these 2 teams is trivial.

The last couple years I would have hoped the Cubs lose every game after the trade deadline.
With the very young group I now think you have to hope they continue playing solid baseball and close the year strong.
45 - 45 in their last 90 games would have seemed impossible in May not to mention trading the (at the time) top 2 starters.

The "plan" has been very painful at times but man does the arrow point way up for next year and beyond.

While 2005! sure is a lot more recent than 1908 (insert joke here)...it's starting to sound like a guy cranking Nickleback in a Pontiac Aztec.

I assume this also means you won't need to post about this subject until 2016. Good idea, i like where this is going.

With just 1 game to go, the Cubs and Sox may well finish with identical records. The Cubs are just 1 win behind the Sox at this point. I hope the Cubs lose, to ensure drafting ahead of the Sox in the 2015 amateur draft. I was hoping for Rodon in this year's draft and the damn Sox got him, with the Cubs getting Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber may well turn out to be a good pick, but pitching was what I was targeting and Rodon was the primary target. I don't want to see such a scenario play out again.

Maybe and I don't care, time to move the focus.
