welcome to chicago, Monte!

Defensively, maybe as good as there is and I do expect him to be healthy for the 3 years of the deal and be a SMART Hitter.

I also put this on Hank White! Good or bad. he backed him up for 2 years, he better know the guy as well as anyone.

Little more than I thought they would pay, but its not my money and as long as I dont hear how much they paid for excuses, I dont care.

Cubs just took on Tyler Flowers with $40m owed and gave up a pretty interesting arm in the process. Enjoy it.

(Flowers isn't a bad catcher) (Montero isn't a bad catcher either)

I will not deny flowers improvement last year, but thats the best you have seen from him in 6 years and it still isnt as good as the worst from Montero. Montero might not even see more time than castillo, but cant have Jon Baker again once a week batting .181

Maybe they shoould carry 5 caatchers on the 40 man, that all suck?

This was a salary dump by AZ.

I just love that NOW, the cubs had some interesting arms Class A that AMERICA has been watching very closely from oregon.

Mejia, 20, had a 2.48 ERA in 12 games, including two starts, in the rookie-level Arizona League in 2014, with 45 strikeouts and 17 walks in 40 innings. Godley, drafted by the Cubs in the 10th round in 2013, was 4-3 with a 3.09 ERA in 40 relief appearances between Class-A Kane County and Advanced Class-A Daytona, with 52 strikeouts and 17 walks in 40 innings last year.

1. The money is probably a bigger problem than the arms. Meija might wind up being something, might not. The Sox traded for Flowers if you'll all remember (Javy Vasquez deal). It's the price of doing business to give up olayers, the money though is ludicrous. More ludicrous than what the Sox just gave Robertson (WHICH WAS LUDICROUS BY THE WAY).

2. 2014 was Flowers' best year, you're right. But Flowers 2014 has been better than three of Montero's worst seasons.

1. He is signed to a very affordable contract.

2. He has been much better than Flowers over the course of his career. His two best years were roughly twice as good as Flowers' best one.

3. Even if he doesn't go back to hitting the way he did several years ago, you still have an average bat/good defense catcher that allows you to platoon Welington Castillo (who kills lefties).

This is like the cutler backup. It hurts most when you need him to play and the John Baker plan probably cost them way too many at bats, just like the ________ plan will cost the Sox.

Alos think it was important to get the veteran catcher for top pitchers to work with when talking top free agents.

Come on! This guy is pounds better than Tyler Fuckin' Flowers. In fact, he's very similar to the guy who just signed in Toronto for giant money.
