Doesn't really seem like a fit here, does he?

He is here because of the stat geeks. He was a top 5 ball in play guy last year. dont think he is around those numbers this year.

The Jed and Theo Boyquarium of Stat geeks was eating lunch today at Salt and pepper, I should have asked whats up with him? I assume they go deaf when someone talks to them.

I assume a FA will be acquired in LF next year....or traded for this year. Even in a salary dump deal.

Helllll no. Way too many guys in the pipeline for that. Going to need a home for Bryant/Schwarbs/McKinney etc.

Coghlan has actually been a victim of terrible luck this year. His Hard Hit % is higher than at any point in his career, yet his BABIP is only .207. He's also rocking a career low in Ground Ball % as well.

He's due for a massive uptick.

In terms of a 'fit' to Darko's point, he sure doesn't with what's still on the farm. Would mind seeing him flipped at the trade deadline for a useful arm provide that uptick occurs.

Him and Soler were my "picks to click" this season. He has hit a lot of line drives that were outs so far BUT .207 is .207.

He was just quoted as saying average means nothing until the end of the season. Yeah, right.
Tell it to the guys left on base. As the saying goes:Games lost in April are still games lost.

Coghlin, Wood and E.Jackson are my personal measuring sticks for the rebuild. When they replace them with top FA's or prospects, then I know they are serious about winning. Until then, they are just another guy to hold a spot.

They should have traded him for a couple lottery tickets during the off season.

I like Coghlin. He isn't anywhere near the class of Jackson.

hey he had home runs off of syndergaard and kimbrel in the last week. you can do a lot worse for a guy on pace for 15-20HRs and all that.

Coghlin will be fine and his batting average will eventually go up. He's not what we want ideally but you don't need star players at every position. The Red Sox won a World Series with Mark Fucking Bellhorn as a starter.

FYI, this was the story on him last year and its why he is here. I agree on the hard hit balls, but at what point does that story of "they are going to fall" end?

Also understand the Schwarber thing in LF....as everyone says he cant catch, except him....and you might need to find a place for him....or Trade him?
