Yeah, maybe they packaged Castillo with Baez and Schwarber for Felix. I hope that isn't giving up too much.

Let's keep that stuff out of the Cubs section please.

Remember, Castillo was here not because they couldn't move him before the season but because Joe Maddon really wanted 3 catchers.

Terflexibility? That sounds like a yoga routine. In fact, I think my wife has a tape called Advanced Terflexibility with Rodney Yee. Namaste.

Reports: Cubs Shopping Welington Castillo, Have Meeting Scheduled with David Ross’ Agent

December 9, 2014 4:02 pm By Neil 39 Comments

Updated 6:39pm CST – Theo Epstein just addressed the Castillo rumors, said the Cubs are not shopping Welington Castillo.

According to reports from Jeff Passan and Chris Cotillo, the Cubs are looking to trade Welington Castillo after acquiring Miguel Montero from the Diamondbacks.

Reports Monday night from the Tribune and Sun-Times indicated the Cubs planned to pair Welington Castillo with Miguel Montero in a platoon-type situation with Montero receiving a bulk of the playing time.

The Cubs explored deals for Castillo while pursuing Russell Martin earlier in the off-season according to Jeff Passan.

And the Cubs have a meeting planned with David Ross’ agent Tuesday night according to Gordon Edes.

There is mutual interest between the Cubs and David Ross and the Cubs interest in Ross is believed to be directly linked to Jon Lester.

Welington Castillo has not progressed defensively as the front office would have liked him to at this point of his career. Castillo is arbitration eligible for the first time after making $530,000 last year. Castillo is looking at between a $2-2.3 million contract for 2015 after batting .237/.296/.389 with 19 doubles and 13 home runs in 110 games.

PrintThe Cubs were believed to be prepared to begin the season with Castillo behind the plate as the team’s primary catcher.

Theo Epstein recently said the team is “confident going forward” with Welington Castillo. The Cubs think Castillo “does a nice job and has a promising future.” Epstein admitted, “catching is one of the few areas on the field where we can add some veteran leadership.”

Epstein added, “Wely [Welington Castillo] has a chance to get better in certain areas. He throws as well as anyone in the game. He blocks as well as anyone in the game. Receiving, framing, that’s a potential area of growth for him. We’re all going to continue to work with him.”

The front office appears to be focused on getting better defensively behind the plate.

eh, i mean it's only like 4 independent sources. and this is before the ross signing

I guess you missed the part where Theo said they weren't shopping him but outside sources indicated they were...eh, I mean, it's hidden on lines 3-4 of your rebutting post

Yoervis Medina, 26. Used to be pretty good. Bad this year, velo down, walks up and giving up more fly balls. Smells like TJ. Upside is there though.

Cubs sending RHP Yoervis Medina to AAA to smooth out mechanics, try to find the missing 2 mph on FB. Scouts believe he has closer potential.

Maybe you missed this passage from an article in February -

Chicago Tribune wrote:
In response, Epstein was typically candid - "I don't know what the fuck we're going to do with this son of a bitch (Castillo). I mean, we need to move him, like immediately, but we've got to find some dumbass team that thinks we need him to get some value. It's a fucking bind."
