When I say "Imminent" I mean completely up in the air.

No, but really, it looks like these two for sure, maybe one more guy

Olt would be a decent holdover until Bryant arrives next year. After that, move him to the OF or make him a corner IF/OF guy in the mold of a Matt Carpenter

RT @SacBee_JoeD Matt Garza trade from Cubs to Rangers is "99 percent done." Teams going over medical records now. 6 players in the mix

I wonder what else the Cubs had to give up to get Jackson in the deal. Nasty Nate?

I bet Vitters or Jackson is in the deal.

Reminds me of the last big trade between these two. The Cubs sent them a pitcher who won 25 games for the Rangers and the Cubs got a guy who won a batting title for them.

Good thing we have the Sacramento Bee to keep us informed.

Would be more than okay with that. Cubs do have a variety of useful slightly above average players. Well worth throwing one of them in.

You can't expect Chicago media to actually report shit. Maybe with the exception of a Bears guy sometimes

Would have to be a PTBNL. Both are on the DL.

Paul Sullivan turned his phone off while he crafts a bit about Crane.

He is on the DL too. I would love for them to take him though. He does nothing for me.

I wonder if they were able to go 2 for 4 and get Jackson, Olt, the SS mentioned yesterday and Edwards. Keep in mind the Cubs did not bring Lake up to be on the bench. I think Valbuena or Nasty nate still.

My uneducated guess is Cubs throw Navarro and/Russell to get better pick of prospects.

They would need to get a new 2nd catcher then because Stevie Ballgame is gone. I have no idea who the hell they even have at AAA because I'm pretty sure they suck. It better be all 4 of those guys I mentioned if Russell is involved. That guy in AA can step right in and replace him if need be.

12:04 PM: Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish tweets that it was the Cubs, not the Rangers, who took Luke Jackson off the table. They had other players they liked better. That's very different than what TR Sullivan said earlier and you wonder now if some of this is that the teams are spinning a little bit. It is quite possible that the Cubs didn't like Jackson as much as some said -- and given his present lack of command and low level, that would not be surprising. It's also possible they're preparing to accept a deal and want to make sure that the media understands that they did not cave. Either way, the plot thickens.

That report that they were in on Ramirez better be bullshit. He is a fucking 2007 draft pick. That is absurd. I don't want that crap.

This is his 3rd fucking year in AA. He absolutely blew in AAA last year. WTF?????????????

He's 24 and has pitched in AAA each of the last two seasons. Pitchers tend to be ready for MLB around 25-26. And he is pretty much dominating AA this season. If he has top of the rotation stuff, it will be fine.

That said, I don't know why he would be the "centerpiece" of the deal.

This is his 6th full minor league season and he was awful in AAA. He isn't on the 40 man and I am pretty sure become a minor league free agent anyways after this year with that kind of service.
