I'm not anti-Bryant but much like Harper in his rookie year he is not living up to the hype that has surrounded him. We all expected him to be shaky in the field but he doesn't hammer pitches that elite talent should. Someone tell me that everything will be okay.

He was projected to have a very high K rate....with 20 HR's. Kinda think he is right where most expected him to be. I dont exect any 23 year player to come up and be an impact player.

The guy who is scary is Schwarber. I thought Soler ht the ball hard, Schwarber is a damn beast,

I think he's already exceeded expectations ...he's got like 225 mlb at bats ... He's fast as hell ..hustles out of the box . I think he's a great left fielder now and slightly below average 3rd baseman . he's taking walks , he's got power n he's a ROOKIE ..he's only going to improve . The Ks are high , gotta shorten up with 2 strikes ...it took Rizzo like 4-5 years to figure that out n he's MVP caliber now .

The Sox have a A PLAN too....just ask them....of course, where they are in that plan is open for debate.

I'm on board with this. I was expecting him to rake based on the hype. He's been decent is all.

If there is not improvement with him and Russell next year, they are in trouble.

Russell (.330 babip ) and Bryant (.360 babip) still carrying well above league average BABIP's. Plenty of room for both correct to lower OPS's.

I agree with this. His speed is really impressive--no other 6'5" guy in the league could have beaten out that DP like he did last night. I see 15 years of Derrek Lee circa 2009 and a borderline hall of fame induction.

Bryant is going to be just fine. He has had a real nice rookie season so far. League is adjusting to him. There will be more ups and downs, but he is going to be just fine

I think it would be best at this point for him to shy away from the whole savior thing and just worry about his game.

Fickle Cub fandom.

Everything will be OK, but he is not a 3rd baseman in the future, which brings up the question of who gets moved: Soler, Bryant or Schwarber

I understand the feeling because Bryant was great at every level and it wouldnt have been the craziest thing ever for him to come right in and be great, but he's still very good for a rookie.

The Bryce Harper comparison is a good one

Peoria Matt, you have to have a little patience. Russell and Bryant will still be young next year and going thru growing pains.

Keep in mind, Bryant is an all star carrying an .823 OPS. So the pains are not even really pains.

And Schwarber will probably be like Pujols and hit .350 with 40 homers every year for 15 years

I think that last line may have been trolling.

I know I need to be more patient with these young players.

He needs to get out of that crouch and make himself more dangerous against low pitches.

Bryant will wind up with about 25 homers and 100 RBI. He was named an All-Star in his rookie season and he hustles all the time, rather than acting like a prima-donna. I think because of his recent slump and Schwarber's amazing performances, it seems like Bryant is not fulfilling expectations. But Rizzo is slumping of late too. It's a long season and guys are going to have stretches that are great and one's where they struggle. I'm very happy with Bryant and expect him to be a huge cornerstone of this team for many years to come.

As much as I hate to admit this, I agree with Steve.

Let's never speak of this again.

Yikes, me too.

He also had a (broken bat) double and a walk yesterday. Expectations are hurting him, but his performance isn't as bad as it feels. But admittedly, he's had some awful ABs lately and he's swinging and missing too much.
