Why does anyone think this kid is any different than Kenny Williams' bum draft picks like Keenyn Ivory Wayans and Courtney Barnett? These turds are all the same. They do everything on the field like Willie Mays except hit, which they do like Paul Popovich.

Almora is 21yrs old. He is not ready yet. His bat is keeping him from reaching the majors. He will make it to the majors and be a nice CF with Gold Glove potential. Not every prospect is going to be an all-star. 2012 was a weak draft if you didn't go for SP. Nice try, but I give your troll effort a * star out of ****

I hate spending first round draft picks on HS players, unless they are guys who have an incredible hitting ability (e.g. A-Rod) or a lineage of some sort (Junior Griffey).

Corey Patterson... incredible skills, ten cent brain. HS kids never faced any adversity at the plate.

/soapbox

p.s. I was a Paul Popovich fan... first game I ever attended in person, Popo hit a grand slam (!) and the Cubs beat the Cardinals 7-0.

The answer is Gordon Beckham. Yes, it has been that bad.

well there you have it JORR; case closed!

...and i can personally vouch for juiced's baseball acumen because in my dealings with him in fantasy baseball trades i can tell you that this man strikes a hard bargain. everybody and their mom was telling me that i made a mistake in giving up corey dickerson AND michael pineda for aj pollock right around the beginning of june! idk if i'll ever live that one down cuz aj pollock is only hitting something like .276 for me =[

in fairness to juiced i will say that corey dickerson is a much better hitter than aj pollock and anywhere from 2, 3, 4, or 5 years down the road i'm eventually going to be like "holy fuck i'm the guy who traded corey dickerson!!!" --- albeit in a win-now trade during dickerson's lost season of 2015. goodnight sweet prince!

When I made that trade, I made it for the future. My team was not going to make it to the playoffs this year, so I wanted to make sure I had plenty of draft picks and turning Pollock into Dickerson AND Pineda was the right move for my team. You have to give up quality to receive quality back. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. I think in the end Dickerson/Pineda will work out fine.

Apparently a couple of dumbass Cub fans have misconstrued this as a pro-Kenny Williams thread.

Pro Kenny ? Nah

But it would be virtually impossible to draft hitters so poorly for over a decade... That's why I'm confident ( to answer YOUR question ) That Schwarber , Bryant and Soler couldn't possibly be compared to Kenny's collection of turds.

Those guys have the opposite problem. None of them has a position he can play reliably. And in an era where many games are decided by a single run, all those defensive miscues are going to hurt.

Even good fielders (Buckner) can sink a teams chances for a very long time. So you may have a point about liability of some of the core four.

I'm not really concerned , Bryant is destined for the outfield ..Center IMO ..he can fly .

Schwarber is destined to play Left.

Soler will improve in right.

You do understand you just described the worst outfield in baseball, right?

I doubt Bryant is moving to the outfield. Bryant has shown the range and arm strength to excel at 3rd. He just needs to continue improving picking and keeping his throws controlled.

Bryant reminds me of Aramis where he his defense with the Pirates was criticized for lapses and such. Upon his arrival with the Cubs he developed into an excellent defender. No question Bryant can become an average 3B.

While Almora might not be a major league player, he isnt a player by any means that has been given up on. The guy is 21 and has displayed major league athletic ability...and its not like he is batting .192 at A?

but if this is the best my guy JORR can come up with as an example of a problem within the Cubs organization....we are doing OK.

I also believe that Bryant can and will remain at 3rd base, just needs more consistency but I have seen him make some damn nice plays.
