Has become the Cubs version of Orioles Arrieta.

This is why you don't give up on a prospect too early.

Cubs better locate Randy Wells.

:D

years ago met Rich Hill's college roomie. Also his catcher at U of Mich. The guy told us Hill was a complete head case. Had world class stuff, but he is the ultimate in overthinking.

Example, when a guy gets on, Hill cant stop thinking about that guy stealing, then scoring on a hit and it all falls apart, as all he thinks about is the runner...and gives up hit after hit.

And he has been with 9 organizations over 15 years.....dont think that is giving up on anyone.

This would be similar to being the team that signed Rick Ankiel after 6 teams dropped him, then he decided he should try pitching again and it worked it.

Obviousely the problems are not as serious as Ankiels ability or inability to throw, but it was the same mental block. Everyone knew the talent was there, its why 9 teams have signed him.

Rich Hill has pitched 2 nice ballgames so far this September with the Red Sox. He hasn't done near what Arrieta did last season, much less anything to compare what Jake has done this season. A 2 game sample size in September is ridiculous to compare.

Maybe a case of the mind finally catching up with the body. He always had the stuff just couldn't harness it. Had an infant die too, nice to see him come back from that.

Agreed. He's an easy guy to root for. He's been through some rough times. Maybe he can have another season where his ERA is under 4 and he wins 11 games as he did with the Cubs one year. But to compare him with Arrieta after he has pitched 2 September games, is silly. God knows the Red Sox need pitchers, so he should get a chance to make the team in spring training.

Did you see the catch Mookie Betts made to end that game. One of the best catches of the year. Robbed a guy (Davis I think) of a sure HR and barely kept from going over the wall after the catch.

I'm happy for Rich Hill.

Maybe he can be the Cubs' fifth starter next season.

I think he will actually get a decent deal somewhere.
