A repository of the history of unfortunate commentary on Cubs baseball ... and to a lesser extent, a fine study on the problem with being a dumbass who can't wait to prove it on the internet.

Enjoy, or don't.

I'll go with don't. General managers who win championships with their current teams don't get to live beyond reproach -- Jerry Krause didn't and Stan Bowman doesn't. Why should Theo?

There's more to be found there than constructive criticism.

Well, I know you never miss an opportunity to lord over others, so enjoy it on my behalf.

Didn't click as OP is notorious for linking to scat porn.

The only move they have made that I have had real issue with was signing Edwin Jackson. I thought and still believe they overpaid for Lester, but he's a good (Not truly elite in my eyes, but good) pitcher. They just paid more than I would have paid and for more years than I would have given him. It was a move made to speed up the process of becoming a contender and hopefully winning a WS title. But "The Plan" was always something I believed in and have supported. It was executed about as well as possible. If not, the plan could have easily taken a lot longer to come together, as they worked past failed draft choices and prospects they traded for. Instead, here we are already contenders with a bright future that should allow the team many seasons of sustained excellence.
