LF and RF.

There are a lot of at-bats and innings over the course of 162. Injuries and slumps are issues even for the best of teams.

As I said earlier, I think Soler sees more time in the outfield than Schwarber by the end of the season, even though Schwarber has the platoon advantage over the more common RHP.

No doubt its an issue that the manager gets to handle.....unless you are JORR's team, then its just whoever gets to RF first! and any bad blood in the dugout bubbles over until a full blown fight starts and then the GM comes in one day and flips over the lunch table....because thats gonna make everyone play much better.

Who cares? You put the best team on the field. If that happens to include Soler, then okay.

There are reasons no team has loaded themselves with players who have more playing time expectations than there is playing time to go around. And it's not funds, or else the Red Sox (under Theo) or Yankees would've done it try and overpower the other back when the ALE was an arms race.

Players get pissed, and while you're all convinced of Maddon's genius now the Cubs won't be the FUN LOVIN' GROUP OF SWELL OL WHITE KIDS next season. Infantile shit like a magician or clown won't make Jorge Soler feel better about all the future dollars the Cubs are costing him.

Jorge Soler wasn't very good last year. Cubs don't owe him shit.

Go tell him that. This is the same guy who attacked an opponent with a bat in the minors.

Soler will start all games in LF when any of the following are in play and it's at least 60 degrees outside:
- They are facing a LHP
- A road game with a spacious LF (Pittsburgh comes to mind) where a better throwing arm will be paramount
- All games where Schwarber gives Montero a break at catcher (probably 18-20 starts) in a non-Lester start
- All games in AL ballparks

I also think he will start in RF when (again when it's 60+ degrees outside):
- They are facing a RH starter who doesn't walk many hitters (Fowler was .228/.331/.395 against RHP last year, Soler was .268/.311/.409)
- Fowler or Heyward have a scheduled day off

Add in
- when one of Fowler, Heyward, Schwarber, or Montero is hurt, and let's face it there's a reasonable chance one of those four will do 15 on the DL.
- the fact that he'll be the primary PH in every other game, since he doesn't have much of a platoon split so far, and he's probably going to get 400 PA.

Were you upset when the Sox acquired Frazier? Were you worried about the mental makeup of the previous Sox third basemen? (Full disclosure - I have no idea who that was. I have cable.)

From their peak when I was a teenager (18.7% in 1981), US-born African Americans are down to under 7.8% of MLB players.

http://www.sportsgrid.com/mlb/the-stagg ... community/

So for a 25 man roster, that would be 2 guys who are African-American.

Meanwhile, the Cubs have 3 IN THEIR FUCKING STARTING LINEUP - Heyward, Fowler, and Russell.

Add in Carl Edwards, maybe another reliever, and ignore all the players of any kind of Latino heritage at all... And two non-Latino African American coaches in Jones and Strode, the latter who has been here for a fucking decade and in the organization for almost decade before that.

America is really reaching, Soler is locked up for like 5 more years @ 4 million per.. Who gives a shit what he thinks?,

He's proven 3 things thus far, he hits the ball very hard, takes awful routes in OF but has a great arm, he's injury prone.

I actually was worried a little about Gillaspie because he never smiled and just looked kinda weird.

I think the Frazier acquisition was a mistake, too. Hope I'm wrong.

The signing of Fowler was quite a surprise, as it looked sure he was going to Baltimore for more money. It allows Heyward to stay at the position at which he is best suited and means the Cubs outfield will be a decidedly better defensive unit. Soler will hit against lefties as well as play left when Schwarber can DH or catches. It means the Cubs have a true leadoff hitter again too. One that can steal some bases as well as getting on base. I am sorry to see Coghlan go, as I liked his versatility and thought he was highly underrated.
