i agree the bunts/caught stealing is hurting the team. this team is built for that ball park and has 4 guys who can hit 30 plus hr's and couple more guys who can hit 20 plus. i would also move beckham out of the 2 hole an put alexai in there.

If the Sox do not win this division going away there should be some major repercussions in the offseason because this division appears to be absolutely brutal. The Royals may actually be their stiffest competition.

Kinda like the '10 team was going to be just like the '83 team too, right?

Killed the rally with a free out. Another loss. Congratulations, dummy!

Sacrifice bunts are a struggling pitcher's best friend.

Quade just did the same damn thing with Fukie. When you have a finite number of something, in whose world does it make sense to give one away?
I just don't get it.

I understand the concept in an environment where the best offenses are scoring 700 runs and you're facing Luis Tiant and a pitcher or Bobby Knoop is at bat. But come on! If you don't think Pierzynski can get a hit, you should probably look at the bench. And if there isn't anyone there you think can get one, maybe Kenny Williams should be fired.

This Walden guy has about 25 big league innings. You could see him coming apart as he knew he was blowing the game. It wasn't hard to read his mind after the Sox made the out on purpose. You could see the guy exhale. Now he's thinking, "I only need one more and then I'm in control again". Ozzie took a guy who was on the ropes and gave him new life with a stupid fucking bunt. Not to mention that sacrificing guys from first and second is a bad idea from a statistical standpoint.

I don't think things will change with this team until Ozzie and/or Kenny is gone. They just start off so sluggish and always have to dig themselves out of a hole. I thought this rotation was the end all be all. It's just the same Sox crap with a cutsie slogan.

Not this silliness. Homeruns are better than bunts. That's a fucking fact. It's not debatable. The offense will be fine. This is a 950 run team. Guillen is killing probably about a run every other game with his idiotic style. Dunn gets on base about 40% of the time. That's how you move Pierre or Beckham to second. Not buy having them run which results in an out way too much of the time. A "softball offense" is another way of saying a powerhouse offense. It isn't a negative. No bad offensive team has ever run its way to success. Running is dumb. Especially for a team that has Carlos Quentin batting sixth and Alexei Ramirez batting ninth.

Maybe I missed something. Who is arguing that bunts are better than homeruns?

Well, what did you mean by "softball offense"? And what other kind of offense do you feel would be more consistent? It seemed you were suggesting that "pitch and putt" baseball is more productive than big guys whacking the ball out of the park. That simply isn't the case.

The Sox will be fine. Angels have one of the best pitching staffs in all of MLB right now, and Oakland isn't that far behind them. Yeah, they giftwrapped a couple games on this homestand but this team will be fine.

Just that. They are a team that will win or lose by the home run. I don't want to see them sacrificing bunts in the 9th inning when there are only 3 outs to play with. I don't suggest that they play for one run as opposed to two or three, but that doesn't mean that we should be happy with an offense that hasn't scored runs consistently thus far. Again, it's early, and they have faced some very good pitching over the last week so I'm not overly concerned, but it's hard to be happy with yet another slow start and 10 more games on this road trip.
