Goobye.

No matter how bad it is the end of the season is always a little saddening.

2011-The season of disappointment.....a team expected to contend for a WS and the favorite to win the A.L. Central, winds up with a losing (79-83) record. The star free agent winds up with one of, if not THE worst season by a major league positional player. The manager (seeing the unlikely chances the team has in the near future) asks to be allowed to go to another team and yet you lament the ending of the season?? I salute you Sir, for you are a true Baseball fan.

I am but I think you mischaracterized much of the season. I believe Detroit was favored from Las Vegas to just about everywhere but here. Ozzie didn't ask out. He was told that his demands would not be met just like last year. He twice lost a game of chicken not with KW but with JR. That's not a man I'd recommend attempting to make a power play.

I lament the end of the season because much like NYE it is a point that reminds one of being a year older. Baseball is the most fun of all sports. Nice weather, casual pace, perfect for being accompanied by a snack. It is understandable to the casual fan and has unlimited depth to those who care to dig deeper. It is both both simple and complex.

I disagree about Ozzie. I believe that Ozzie orchestrated his departure. he knew he had a deal with Florida waiting for him, so he pushed for something he knew reinsdorf was not going to give him. In the end Jerry gave him the release from his contract that he needed to pursue an opportunity he clearly favored.
