  Santo was professional? How can you say that when he would ask Pat, on the air mind you, "Pat, how did that runner get on first base?"

Hawk is not on a national stage either. Neither was Santo. Neither is Brenly or Stone or Farmer.

As I said, when you act like the homer he does, questions like these are fair game.

I think there is a difference between being incompetant at your job and being unprofessional. Hawk is competant enough to understand what he is saying and implying most times.

Did you miss the multiple articles in the major sports media outlets? It was a lead story on ESPN. Is that the impression you want about your baseball team on the national stage? Because that is what you are getting with Hawk.

Hawk was never the lead story on ESPN.

Hoffy if the Sox win, I absolutely could not care less what the impression of the Sox is on a national stage.

It was Ken Harrelson's 71st birthday yesterday. Needless to say, last night's 18-9 Minnesota blowout wasn't the happiest of birthdays for the man who's been the primary TV voice of the White Sox since 1990. I wouldn't overreact to Harrelson taking the rest of last night's debacle off.

They did what they had to do in winning this series. Now repeat it over the weekend with the Royals.

Well, Luis Mendoza, Bruce Chen & Jeremy Guthrie will be the Royals' starters this weekend vs. the White Sox trio of Francisco Liriano, Chris Sale & Hector Santiago. RV announced that Santiago will start the Sunday game vs. Guthrie before this afternoon's White Sox/Twins' game, though there were hints that Dylan Axelrod would get the nod instead.

By the way, that Chen/Sale matchup will be on display Saturday afternoon as the "MLB on FOX" game @ 3:05P.

I don't mind that. I liked the way Santiago threw on Monday.

If (when) the Sox make the playoffs, I do not want Humber on the playoff roster.

Frank, they've got some tough decisions in regards to the playoff roster. Philip Humber, Gavin Floyd, Ray Olmedo & Jose Quintana are 4 of the guys on very shaky ground in my opinion.

I don't want Humber on the team next year if he cannot win a starting job. I hate him as a reliever.

You might get your wish, GD. I don't know what has happened to Humber since his perfect game and Quintana can't seem to get anyone out these days.

Humber is done. I'd rather Quintana out there throwing righty than Humber out there.

Uh oh! Could Anthony John Pierzynski be facing an MLB suspension for PEDs? A caller just asked Rongey's "Xfinity/White Sox Radio Network Postgame". Insert suspense music...

Bruce Chen must not be allowed to win in this series and the same for Guthrie. I want the Sox pitchers to fucking own the plate, stop nibbling and throw like they have a pair. If the Royals act like the own the plate, fucking plunk them or brush them back.
Don't pitch to that fat fuck Butler, ever.

That would be nice. Billy Butler was a tough out in that Royals' sweep in Kansas City.

He was a lead on ESPN.com.

But if they don't make it because the team gets distracted or the umpires actually do start making calls against the White Sox, that is okay too?

It was a story in the MLB section of ESPN.com

Hardly a lead.

Why would the team get distracted?

And if umpires based calls on what an announcer said about them, then Hawk is right.

The first rant was listed up there, very visible on the main site. Lead? Maybe not, but damned close to it. The fact is it was major national attention. Hell, Google for Hawk Harrelson and you see about 95 of the first 100 listings are Hawk's rants. While I realize outlets just re-post the story, it tells you something about just how much attention this gets. Separately, is this what Hawk wants to be known for when he looks back on his career? Because right now, that is how people view him.

While I have never heard many of the specifics, the Ozzie carnival over the past few years was supposedly a major distraction to the team. This included his kid calling players out on Twitter, public feuds with the media, etc. Is it that much of a leap to believe this couldn't cause a similar distraction to the clubhouse? I am not in the media sessions, but don't you think that reporters are asking the players about this? Asking if the umpires are making uncall fairs against the White Sox? Hawk has signaled out individual umpires in public. That type of stuff gets back to the players, I am sure. Hell, the players probably already assume some of the umps are out to get them as is. Who is to say this isn't fueling this assumption in their heads?

I was a little surprised that they went with Santiago after the way Axelrod pitched in his last start, but I figure they wanted the lefty against those Minnesota bats. It worked out okay. I'm not real confident about either of them. Santiago has the big stuff, but Axelrod seems a little more polished and unflappable.
