I'd say it's still a more dangerous an area.

Anytime you are talking about "good areas" and you throw in "Just don't make a wrong turn",that kind of tells the story.

Like being in Elk Grove Village, and the "wrong turn" is Bensenville, or the wrong part of Schaumburg?

The other thing about Sox park is that people generally just go to the game and go home. People going to the Cubs game can linger before and after the game to do stuff. Plus the Cubs have a lot more day games, which makes for more time to do things before and after the game.

The neighborhood is not good. A fairly impoverished area that is largely populated by blacks. Strolling around the area at night on an off night might be a really poor idea. That said, I have been to dozens of games there and never had, nor seen any real problems. But I have always left right after the game ended and there are lots of CPD officers in the vicinity on game days (nights) so things are kept pretty safe. But it's surely not a neighborhood to reside in.

Seems like a fair assessment, but you really should have said African-Americans.

I thought Bridgeport was mostly white.

The thread asks about the area the Cell is in, not an area near the cell. Try to keep up. But yes, Bridgeport has a very different makeup than that which surrounds the ballpark.

Responses to Steve's posts bother me more than his posts themselves. Even responding in anger is shining a light on his nonsense.

If it bothers you that much maybe it's time to hang up your keyboard and retire from the internet.

How the hell can you have a cubs logo up and yet not know anything about the neighborhoods in Chicago. The area around the Cell is fine just as much as any other, just don't stare at your phones with headphones on oblivious to the world,...now Steve, stop being a stupid idiot and wake the f*ck up

It's just the thoughts of one man on the board. Sometimes he posts stuff and then people respond to it.

This is how it's been since the days of Prodigy and 2400Baud modems.

Alright SomeGuy. You'll obviously take the opposite stance no matter what I post.

Not sure why you wouldn't understand why a I say what I say about Steve though.

Let us settle down, Kid. I get what you're saying as I see what Steve posts as well. Sometimes it's just Steve being Steve and sometimes it's Steve being Steve.

At the end of the day he is but a fiber woven into the fabric of this board.

You never have a problem near The Cell.

Although sometimes you do get rear ended.

This is why I'm a Cubs fan, no chance of that happening near Wrigley....

The Wentworth Gardens isn't the greatest place and that's right next to the Cell. I couldn't believe they just remade all those units instead of investing into the neighborhood and putting up some nice Condo's/Townhouses right there. It's good for a few shootings a year.

It's a lot better now that Stateway Gardens and Robert Taylor's are gone. Unfortunately, if you go west of State it gets awful again. What worries me is that no one is moving into the new developments on State St and it's going to "affordable housing."

I really wish there was more of an investment into the neighborhoods.
