I thought of a way to solve this.

- Buehrle want a no trade clause.

- The Sox don't want to give him one. Partly because the don't want to set a presedent with other players.

Why don't they give Buehrle a "no trade clause" and tell the media that he doesn't have one. So Buehrle and the Sox are both happy. They're the only ones who need to know. That solves the next guy from expecting one. Isn't that brilliant?

Brilliant, yes. However, illegal. Knowingly misinforming the press and/or other teams in the league HAS to go against a rule somewhere.

Well, there is certainly nothing illegal about lieing to the media. You do raise a point. I'm quite certain the players union reads each and every players contract and I'm sure they would inform the players of a Sox cover up in the terms of the "no trade clause". Once the players learn of it then the media will get wind.

Damn. I thought I was on to something. It would have to be an unwritten agreement between Buehrle and the Sox. "We won't trade you unless we come to you and you agree but it won't be written in the contract." I doubt Buehrle would agree to sign something on his management's word.

That's actually a correct way of thinking by Kenny. Except it doesn't apply with Buehrle. You're not over paying.

He made another shining example today of why he should be signed. Wow.
I guess the paltry 1 K will justify trading him.
